When Custom Jewelry Becomes Courtside Armor

At the 2025 US Open, world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka showcased a trio of custom pieces by Material Good that illustrated the brand’s mastery in blending performance sensibility with bold elegance.

Her look included a diamond drop earring, a tourmaline pendant, and a diamond choker—each incorporating the number eight to commemorate her eighth appearance at the tournament.

The choker features eight stones (seven pear-cut diamonds and one imperial topaz), her pendant is set in eight prongs, and each earring carries eight diamonds.

The centerpiece was a rare 10.72-carat pink-orange tourmaline tucked into the pendant, crafted to complement her custom athletic attire and reinforce her on-court confidence.

Material Good’s head of design emphasized that these pieces blend practicality with statement-making glamour.

Elevating Tennis Jewelry to Cultural Significance

Tennis courts and jewelry share a storied history—few pieces capture this as well as the tennis bracelet, originally named for an on-court mishap by Chris Evert in 1978.

Today, jewelry continues to elevate player fashion narratives. Sabalenka’s custom Material Good pieces, for example, transform functional accessories into personal talismans that mark her journey and achievements.

Far beyond mere adornment, these bespoke items serve both symbolic and emotional purposes. For Sabalenka, each custom design brings a sense of cohesion to her look and boosts her mental focus during competition.

Material Good’s Distinctive Brand Identity

Material Good stands out through its dedication to a sensory, personalized retail experience, emphasizing rare gemstones, thoughtful design, and high-touch service.

From bridal pieces to vintage watches, the brand also crafts bespoke jewelry, ensuring that each item becomes a story in itself.
