Hailed as the “David Beckham of Polo,” Nacho Figueras has transformed a centuries-old sport into a spectacle that transcends stables and fields.
His story reflects elegance, discipline, and ambition, but also the power of meaningful collaborations with luxury brands, charitable causes, and cultural institutions.
From Buenos Aires to Global Fame
Born in Buenos Aires, Nacho Figueras first picked up a mallet at age nine, guided by family friends who lived and breathed polo.
By 17, he turned professional, swiftly rising through the ranks of high-goal teams in Argentina, the United States, and beyond.
Today, he captains Black Watch, a team he co-owns, while balancing his dual career as both a competitor and international style ambassador.
While many athletes focus solely on performance, Figueras saw early on that polo needed visibility. His modeling career, launched in 2000 through a chance encounter with photographer Bruce Weber, became the perfect stage.
By 2005, he was the face of Ralph Lauren’s Black Label and later fronted the “World of Polo” fragrance campaigns.
His presence brought polo into mainstream fashion, making the sport suddenly aspirational, glamorous, and approachable.
