Hailed as the “David Beckham of Polo,” Nacho Figueras has transformed a centuries-old sport into a spectacle that transcends stables and fields.

His story reflects elegance, discipline, and ambition, but also the power of meaningful collaborations with luxury brands, charitable causes, and cultural institutions.

From Buenos Aires to Global Fame

Born in Buenos Aires, Nacho Figueras first picked up a mallet at age nine, guided by family friends who lived and breathed polo.

By 17, he turned professional, swiftly rising through the ranks of high-goal teams in Argentina, the United States, and beyond.

Today, he captains Black Watch, a team he co-owns, while balancing his dual career as both a competitor and international style ambassador.

While many athletes focus solely on performance, Figueras saw early on that polo needed visibility. His modeling career, launched in 2000 through a chance encounter with photographer Bruce Weber, became the perfect stage.

By 2005, he was the face of Ralph Lauren’s Black Label and later fronted the “World of Polo” fragrance campaigns.

His presence brought polo into mainstream fashion, making the sport suddenly aspirational, glamorous, and approachable.

The Power of Partnerships

At the core of Figueras’ global appeal are his strategic partnerships.

His collaboration with Ralph Lauren remains his most iconic, where he continues to embody the timeless sophistication of the Polo line. With NetJets, he represents the precision and convenience of private aviation, essential for balancing his demanding travel schedule.

Through AMAALA, a Saudi Arabian luxury resort project, he champions the merging of wellness, sport, and high-end hospitality.

In hospitality, Figueras serves as a brand ambassador for St. Regis, connecting the refined lifestyle of elite polo with a world-class hotel experience.

Beyond luxury, his philanthropy shines through his long-standing relationship with Sentebale, Prince Harry’s charitable foundation supporting children and young people in Southern Africa.

Notably, the release of his fragrance collection funneled proceeds directly into Sentebale, highlighting how he leverages commercial projects for meaningful impact.

These partnerships reflect more than celebrity endorsement.

They position Nacho Figueras as a bridge between sport, style, and social responsibility—proof that polo, once considered exclusive, can be reframed for today’s global audience.

Polo Classics and the Veuve Clicquot Legacy

Perhaps no partnership illustrates Figueras’ cultural influence better than his relationship with Veuve Clicquot

Together, they revived polo in New York City with the annual Polo Classic, launched in 2008. The event has grown from a modest gathering into a glittering social affair featuring celebrities, concerts, and unforgettable city backdrops.

One of the most memorable evolutions was the inclusion of women players, honoring Madame Clicquot’s trailblazing legacy.

Delfina Blaquier, Figueras’ wife and fellow polo player, joined the roster alongside international stars like Lia Salvo and Melissa Ganzi. The move demonstrated how Figueras uses his platform to spotlight inclusivity within the sport.

A Family Steeped in Horses

Despite global recognition, Figueras never strays far from family. With Delfina and their four children—Hilario, Aurora, Artemio, and Alba—polo has become a true family tradition.

Their stables in Argentina house over 250 horses, with specialized farms for breeding and training. Designed in collaboration with Estudio Ramos, their facilities have been featured in Architectural Digest and even presented at the Venice Architecture Biennale.

For Nacho, the stables are not merely functional but cultural spaces. He calls them a “museum of horses,” each stall reflecting the reverence he holds for his animals.

Sustainability, artistry, and modern design blend into one environment that nurtures both sport and family legacy.

Beyond Horses and Mallets

Figueras’ ventures go far beyond polo and fashion. He has co-authored a trilogy of romance novels set in the world of polo, further intertwining his sport with popular culture.

His charitable work, artistic pursuits, and ongoing collaborations reveal a man whose vision extends far beyond the field.

Whether sipping mate in New York or riding in the Pampas, Nacho Figueras embodies global elegance anchored in Argentine authenticity.

He is not just a polo player; he is a storyteller, a cultural ambassador, and a living example of how tradition can flourish in modern luxury.
