Oscar Piastri, already with multiple victories, leads the championship battle with confidence and precision, while teammate Lando Norris is only a step behind, pushing hard to keep the pressure alive. Their recent streak of podiums and strong qualifying performances makes them the most consistent team on the grid.

Max Verstappen, though not enjoying the absolute dominance of previous years, remains a powerful force. His past successes at Monza prove he knows how to handle the “Temple of Speed.” Verstappen thrives under fan intensity, and while he may not carry favorite status this time, his resilience and history make him impossible to overlook.

Ferrari at Home: The Tifosi’s Emotional Charge

The GP Italia is always a spiritual event for Ferrari. In 2025, the team celebrates the 50th anniversary of Niki Lauda’s first world championship with a special commemorative livery, turning Monza into a sea of red. Charles Leclerc, a proven performer at home, shoulders the hopes of thousands of Tifosi filling the grandstands. His aggressive driving style and affinity with this track could bring him into podium contention.

Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, is set for his debut GP Italia with Ferrari. Despite a five-place grid penalty, Hamilton showed promising form in practice, topping the timing sheets in FP1. While his starting position may hold him back, his racing intelligence and tire management could still allow him to make a charge through the field. For Ferrari, the challenge will be to balance emotion with execution—something Monza demands every year.

The Circuit de Monza: Speed, Precision, and Risk

Monza is not called the “Temple of Speed” without reason. The track layout pushes cars to over 350 km/h on the straights, with drivers spending nearly 80% of each lap at full throttle. The Parabolica, Ascari Chicane, and Curva Grande remain some of the most iconic and challenging corners in all of motorsport.

The circuit’s design places immense stress on brakes and tires, while its two DRS zones provide the few realistic overtaking chances. That means qualifying performance is more critical here than at many other tracks. With so much time spent at top speed, even the smallest aerodynamic miscalculation can cost valuable tenths per lap.

Pirelli has selected the softest compounds—C3, C4, and C5—for this weekend, expecting most teams to attempt a one-stop strategy. However, unpredictable weather in Northern Italy during September could turn strategy on its head. A sudden rain shower has the power to transform the race, rewarding teams that stay adaptable under pressure.

Beyond the Race: Atmosphere and Expectations

The GP Italia is not only about racing—it is a cultural spectacle. Fans from all over the world converge on Monza to witness Ferrari’s homecoming, and the passion of the Tifosi is unmatched. The grandstands erupt in red smoke, chants, and flags, creating one of the most electric atmospheres in the F1 calendar.

Off the track, Monza hosts fan zones, interactive exhibitions, and concerts, ensuring that the race weekend blends sport with festival energy. From flyovers by the Frecce Tricolori to immersive experiences across Milan and Lombardy, the GP Italia becomes a celebration of speed, tradition, and Italian pride.

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on whether McLaren can maintain its dominance, Ferrari can deliver an emotional home triumph, or Verstappen can stage a comeback on one of his favorite circuits. Regardless of the result, GP Italia promises drama, intensity, and unforgettable moments.
