The US Open 2025 is at a thrilling stage, with the quarterfinals arriving at Flushing Meadows on Tuesday (Sep 2) and Wednesday (Sep 3). Both the men’s and women’s draws feature an impressive mix of seasoned champions and emerging talents, setting the stage for an exciting finish to this year’s final Grand Slam.

How much money do the quarterfinalists get? 660,000 USD, while those who reach the semifinals earn 1,260,000 USD.

As the stakes rise, both Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner are among the favorites to secure their second consecutive titles, continuing a strong run of form in recent months. But with fierce competition across the board, predictions are far from simple.

Men’s Quarterfinals: The Challenge

Among the eight remaining men, two Italian stars, Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti, will clash tomorrow (Sept 3) in a highly anticipated quarterfinal match.

The duel between the two Italians promises to be a thrilling spectacle, with Sinner looking to continue his impressive form after dominating previous rounds. He’s a clear favorite, given his consistency and powerful baseline game. Musetti, however, is no stranger to big upsets and will be eager to challenge Sinner for a spot in the semifinals.

In another blockbuster match, today Carlos Alcaraz, the world No. 2, will face Jiri Lehecka of the Czech Republic. Alcaraz has been on a tear throughout the tournament, winning each match in straight sets. His powerful serve and aggressive play have overwhelmed opponents like Reilly Opelka and Mattia Bellucci, suggesting that he’ll be tough to beat here.

On the other hand, Lehecka has impressed with his resilience, coming through tough matches, including a notable win against veteran Adrian Mannarino. This match could test Alcaraz more than his previous encounters, but the Spaniard remains the favorite.

Elsewhere, the Serbian legend Novak Djokovic will take today on Taylor Fritz, who will be hoping for a rare victory over the 24-time Grand Slam champion.

Djokovic has a perfect 10-0 record against Fritz, making this a challenging encounter for the American. However, Fritz’s recent form has been impressive, showing consistency and maturity in his play. Still, Djokovic’s experience on the big stage will likely prove too much.

Finally, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Alex de Minaur will face off tomorrow in another exciting quarterfinal. De Minaur, known for his speed and defensive skills, will likely have the upper hand against the Canadian, who has struggled in high-pressure situations in the past.

As we look ahead, a potential final matchup between Sinner and Alcaraz seems almost inevitable, and the two young stars could very well meet in what promises to be a thrilling showdown. With Sinner likely facing the winner of Auger-Aliassime and de Minaur, and Alcaraz likely to beat Djokovic or Fritz, the stage is set for an epic contest between these two rising stars.

Women’s Quarterfinals: Complicated

The women’s side of the draw is equally stacked with drama, with defending champion Aryna Sabalenka aiming for a second consecutive title. Sabalenka has been in exceptional form, though her upcoming match against Marketa Vondrousova, the 2023 Wimbledon champion, could be her toughest challenge yet.

Vondrousova has shown great composure on the big stage, and while Sabalenka is the favorite, this match could provide an interesting test.

On the same side of the draw, Jessica Pegula and Barbora Krejcikova will battle today for a spot in the semifinals. Pegula has had a smooth path to the quarterfinals, while Krejcikova, after a dramatic win over Taylor Townsend, is riding a wave of momentum. This match could go either way, but Krejcikova’s Grand Slam pedigree, with titles at Wimbledon 2024 and Roland Garros 2021, gives her the edge.

Meanwhile on the other side, Naomi Osaka will meet Karolina Muchova, in what promises to be one of the most competitive quarterfinals. The two have split their previous encounters, and both have shown flashes of brilliance during the tournament. Osaka’s experience and powerful game make her a dangerous opponent, but Muchova’s steady and tactical approach could prove difficult for the Japanese star.

Lastly, the rematch of this year’s Wimbledon final, between Amanda Anisimova and Iga Swiatek, promises high drama. Swiatek has dominated their previous encounter, but Anisimova has come into her own in recent months, showing improved consistency. This match is harder to predict, as Anisimova could spring an upset if she maintains her form.

As for predictions, while Sabalenka is the clear favorite on the women’s side, Anisimova could make a surprise run to the final, potentially facing Sabalenka or an inspired Krejcikova. The competition in the women’s draw is fierce, and anything can happen.
