In celebration of the Tiffany & Co. 60th anniversary, the House has acquired a 7,500-carat kunzite, a gemstone of rare magnificence.

Discovered over 25 years ago in Mozambique, this kunzite is celebrated for its clarity, vivid hue, and natural brilliance.

The enormous raw crystal will be expertly cut into ten custom gemstones by Tiffany’s master artisans.

This collection commemorates the 60th anniversary of the original design by Jean Schlumberger, introduced in 1965.

The Bird on a Rock, inspired by a cockatoo, became an icon of joyful elegance and Tiffany’s creativity.

The Vision of a Gemological Pioneer

The gemstone’s name honors Dr. George Frederick Kunz, Tiffany’s first chief gemologist and legendary mineralogist.

A self-taught expert, Kunz revolutionized the world of colored stones with his unmatched curiosity and scholarly passion.

His work helped Tiffany & Co. become synonymous with rare and vibrant gemstones throughout the 20th century.

Nature’s Masterpiece in Violet

Kunzite’s hues range from deep purple to soft lilac, and this stone exhibits the most intense and uniform color seen.

The exceptional size, natural saturation, and crystal clarity mark it as one of nature’s most precious creations.

Such qualities reflect Tiffany’s legacy of sourcing and presenting only the most extraordinary gems.

The Artistry of Tiffany’s Masters

Each kunzite will be hand-cut, shaped, and set into the iconic Bird on a Rock brooch with precision and vision.

The process showcases the unrivaled craftsmanship Tiffany & Co. continues to uphold in its High Jewelry collections.

Some clients will collaborate with the brand to co-create personalized designs, elevating their experience.

Celebrating a Legendary Design

Schlumberger’s Bird on a Rock is renowned not only for its charm but also for its artistic integration of movement and color.

Over decades, this brooch has featured Tiffany’s most vibrant stones, including the famous Tiffany Diamond in 1995.

The Tiffany & Co. anniversary serves as the perfect moment to return to this beloved piece with new interpretations.

Kunzite and the Legacy of Color

Kunzite belongs to Tiffany’s group of “legacy gemstones”, alongside tanzanite, morganite, and tsavorite.

These stones, introduced by Tiffany to the world, reinforce the House’s role as a pioneer in colored gem discovery.

With each new acquisition, Tiffany affirms its leadership in innovation, luxury, and the storytelling of rare beauty.

Global Recognition in Gemology

From 1877 to today, Tiffany’s commitment to gemology remains rooted in history and driven by excellence.

The Tiffany & Co. anniversary is more than a milestone—it’s a celebration of vision, artistry, and enduring brilliance.
