A Tribute to Heritage and Innovation

Standing 30 meters tall, The Louis draws inspiration from Louis Vuitton’s 19th-century origins in crafting travel trunks. The exterior features a shimmering metallic Monogram pattern, reminiscent of the sea’s reflective surface, symbolizing the brand’s deep connection to travel and maritime culture.

The design also pays homage to Shanghai’s status as a historic port city, embodying the spirit of “embracing all rivers and seas” as articulated by Wu Yue, President of LVMH Greater China.

A Multi-Sensory Experience

Spanning three levels, The Louis offers visitors an immersive journey through various thematic spaces:

  • Le Café Louis Vuitton: A refined café that combines gourmet dining with the ambiance of a luxury ocean liner, providing a serene retreat for guests.
  • Visionary Journeys Exhibition: Curated by OMA’s Shohei Shigematsu, this exhibition delves into Louis Vuitton’s evolution, featuring sections like Origins, showcasing heritage pieces; Voyage, highlighting the brand’s role in global travel; and Olfactive Exploration, displaying rare perfume bottles dating back to 1927.
  • Retail Spaces: Open, gallery-like areas present a curated selection of men’s and women’s collections, including leather goods, accessories, and ready-to-wear items. Personalization services, such as hot-stamp stations with Shanghai-exclusive motifs, are also available.
  • Interactive Craftsmanship: Visitors can witness live demonstrations by artisans in the Workshop and Testing areas, offering insights into Louis Vuitton’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

Luxe Amenities and Exclusive Offerings

The Louis is not just a store; it’s a destination that redefines luxury retail. The integration of fine dining, immersive exhibitions, and personalized services exemplifies the brand’s dedication to providing unparalleled luxe amenities.

This innovative approach aligns with a broader industry trend where luxury brands are focusing on experiential retail to engage consumers more deeply.

Strategic Expansion in China

This flagship store marks a significant step in Louis Vuitton’s strategy to enhance its presence in China. Despite a cooling luxury market, the brand’s investment in experiential retail spaces like The Louis underscores its commitment to long-term growth and brand resonance in the region.
