Early Life and the Rise of a Champion

Cambiaso grew up in Cañuelas, Buenos Aires. Traces of his athletic talent first showed in tennis before his passion turned to polo. The documentary retraces his early friendship and rivalry with Lolo Castagnola, which evolved into a deep bond—both personal and professional.

After rising through Argentina’s junior circuit, he moved on to international arenas in North America and England, teaming up with noted figures like Gonzalo Pieres.

His success with Ellerstina eventually led him to establish La Dolfina, a powerhouse that would transform polo—challenging conventions and setting the stage for new rivalries akin to Argentine sport’s own Boca-River duels.

Revolution, Rivalries, and Creating La Dolfina

Breaking away from Ellerstina, Cambiaso founded La Dolfina in 2000 with Bartolomé Castagnola. The documentary dives into the challenges of building a top-tier polo organization from scratch: recruiting talent, securing financing, and managing high-stakes logistics.

His vision positioned the team among elite clubs globally, with La Dolfina gaining dominance in prestigious tournaments like the Argentine Open and Hurlingham. Stakeholders describe how Cambiaso’s ambition changed the sport’s landscape.

Innovation on Horseback: The Cloning Controversy

One of the series’ most compelling narratives is Cambiaso’s decision to clone two of his best horses after a tragic accident in 2006.

The documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look at how cloning sparked scientific debates and legal challenges—especially in the U.S.—touched by ethical concerns and complex patent disputes. Featuring interviews with veterinarians, scientists, and polo professionals, it explores how preserving elite horse performance became a quest that redefined competitive boundaries.

Legacy in the Making: From Father to Son

Now in his 50s, Cambiaso is passing the reins to his son, Adolfo “Poroto” Cambiaso, who at 16 debuted in the Triple Crown and quickly made his mark with La Dolfina.

The documentary captures this father-son journey, showing Poroto’s early training and emotional bond with his famous father.

This intergenerational storyline illustrates Cambiaso’s enduring ambition—to compete alongside his son and support a new era for La Dolfina. It’s a testament to his lifelong dedication to excellence, both on and off the field.

A Deep Portrait of a Sports Icon

With nearly three hours of footage, the series assembles commentary from Cambiaso’s inner circle—his wife María Vázquez, his children, parents, and teammates—as well as figures such as Pablo MacDonough, Juan Martín Nero, Facundo Pieres, Nacho Figueras, and Tommy Lee Jones.

Together, they paint a portrait of a driven, controversial, and profoundly human man—rich in ambition but anchored by family, legacy, and an unyielding love for horses.
