Returning to The Shed from May 7 to 11, Frieze New York 2025 will feature more than 65 galleries representing over 25 countries, reaffirming its role as a major force in the global art fair calendar.

This year’s edition promises a robust blend of blue-chip names and fresh voices, with returning participants like Gagosian, David Zwirner, and White Cube, alongside an increasingly international roster of emerging galleries.

Among the key draws is the Focus section, curated for the second year by Lumi Tan, which offers a platform for young and underrecognized galleries. Seven of the twelve solo presentations in Focus are by first-time exhibitors, many from cities like Kyiv, Singapore, Seoul, and Biarritz—a signal of the section’s expanding global scope.

What Are the Must-See Projects in the Focus Section?

  • A moving tribute to late artist and curator Jenni Crain, whose legacy continues to influence the New York scene.

  • Video works by Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley, exploring the Black trans experience through interactive and digital formats.

  • Textile-based reinterpretations of Indonesian epic narratives by Citra Sasmita, whose works confront colonial and patriarchal mythologies.

Tan noted that this year’s Focus “builds a new international vocabulary through solo presentations rooted in history, identity, and resistance.”
