A partnership redefining watchmaking

Although five years may seem like a brief period in the world of haute horology, the alliance between Richard Mille and Ferrari has already made an indelible mark. Since signing their partnership in 2020, both brands have defied expectations with their bold approach to horological engineering.

In 2022, they unveiled their first collaborative masterpiece—the RM UP-01 Ferrari, an ultra-thin marvel measuring just 1.75mm in thickness. This revolutionary timepiece disrupted the traditional boundaries of ultra-slim watchmaking, making a statement as powerful as a Ferrari engine roaring down a racetrack. The RM UP-01 wasn’t just another Ferrari-branded watch—it was a testament to the synergy between Richard Mille’s Formula One heritage and Ferrari’s legendary status in the automotive world.

Power beneath the surface

At first glance, the RM 43-01 Ferrari Tourbillon Split-Seconds Chronograph may seem like a classic Richard Mille creation. Given the avant-garde reputation of both brands, many expected a concept as radical as the RM UP-01. However, while the RM 43-01 may appear more traditional, a closer look reveals the sheer complexity and ingenuity beneath its surface.

Its precision-driven system operates through two six-column wheels, ensuring seamless movement synchronization, enhanced chronograph functionality, and long-term durability. Extensive research on the function of clamps has led to a refined design that improves both reliability and performance.

Flavio Manzoni, Ferrari’s design mastermind, has long emphasized that aesthetics and technical innovation should go hand in hand. This philosophy is at the core of Richard Mille’s watchmaking ethos—where every technical detail serves a purpose while maintaining a captivating visual identity.
