The decision is a part of a broader restructuring within the company’s leadership.

According to LVMH, Frederic Arnault, who previously led the company’s watchmaking division, will officially take over as CEO on June 10, replacing Damien Bertrand. Bertrand, in turn, will assume the role of Deputy CEO of LVMH.

A graduate of France’s prestigious École Polytechnique, Frederic Arnault spent six years at TAG Heuer before being appointed CEO of LVMH’s watch division in 2024.

His strategic vision and commitment to excellence have been crucial in strengthening the group, particularly in expanding LVMH’s global partnership with Formula 1. Additionally, he led the acquisition of L’Épée 1839, a renowned Swiss luxury clockmaker.

Beyond his new role at Loro Piana, Frederic Arnault also serves as CEO of Financière Agache, one of the holding companies through which the Arnault family controls its stake in LVMH. Meanwhile, LVMH has announced that Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglou will become Deputy CEO of Christian Dior Couture starting April 15.

Next billion-dollar challenge

These recent and previous executive shifts led by Bernard Arnault have sparked speculation regarding LVMH’s future succession, as all five of his children currently hold significant leadership positions within the corporate structure.

During his tenure as head of LVMH’s watch division, Arnault oversaw luxury brands such as Zenith, Hublot, and TAG Heuer. Prior to that, he spearheaded TAG Heuer’s innovation in smartwatch technology, having initially joined the brand in 2017 as director of its Connected smartwatch line before becoming CEO in 2020.

Before entering the family business, Frederic Arnault gained experience through internships at McKinsey and Facebook’s artificial intelligence research division.

To ensure a smooth transition, he will begin working with Loro Piana in March alongside Bertrand, who successfully drove significant growth for the brand.

From smartwatches to cashmere

Loro Piana, known for its understated luxury, has become a symbol of the quiet luxury trend, attracting affluent clients who favor discreet, high-end fashion. The brand’s offerings include “Gift of Kings” loafers priced at €1,700 ($1,853) and lightweight cashmere coats exceeding €10,000.

In his new role, Frederic Arnault will report to Toni Belloni, a longtime LVMH executive and Bernard Arnault’s former right-hand man, who relocated to Italy a year ago to oversee the company’s operations there.

Bernard Arnault emphasized that these leadership changes reflect LVMH’s dedication to nurturing talent and strong leadership. Through these appointments, the luxury conglomerate continues to fortify its position in the industry, ensuring the growth and evolution of its iconic brands.
