The team, which secured fifth place in the 2024 Constructors’ Championship, had previously revealed the car’s striking new livery at the F1 75 Live event in London. However, on Sunday, they provided further insight into the extensive technical upgrades shaping their latest contender.

Shaping the future

Aston Martin’s team principal, Andy Cowell, highlighted the engineering team’s commitment to refining the car’s overall performance:

“This season, we’ve carefully analyzed the lessons from last year and focused on building a more driver-friendly machine for both Lance and Fernando. We’ve worked extensively to improve stability and predictability, making it a more well-rounded car,” said.

“With a competitive field awaiting in Australia, we recognize the challenge ahead. Our primary goal is consistent progress in every department, particularly as we approach the pivotal regulation changes in 2026,” added.

The Aston Martin AMR25 was scheduled to complete a shakedown session at the Bahrain International Circuit on Monday, serving as a crucial precursor to the three-day pre-season testing event commencing today February 26th.

Speed, stability, and a new vision

Fernando Alonso, eager to get back on track, expressed confidence in the team’s efforts:

“We gained valuable experience in 2024, and the team has used that knowledge as motivation heading into this season with the Aston Martin AMR25,” said.

This is the final year before the major regulation overhaul, and competition is bound to be intense. However, I know that everyone at AMRTC has been working tirelessly to ensure we’re fully prepared. I’m excited to get behind the wheel again and contribute to making this team even stronger.”

What’s New with the AMR25?

Aston Martin made significant strides in 2023, emerging as an unexpected contender against Red Bull. However, the team struggled to maintain that momentum across the 2024 season.

Despite securing fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship for a second consecutive year, the performance gap between Aston Martin and Mercedes widened substantially, increasing from 22 points in 2023 to a staggering 374 points in 2024.

As a result, Aston Martin has introduced major upgrades to the AMR25, including a refined front wing and redesigned sidepods.

A statement detailing the changes explained:

“The Aston Martin AMR25 features a front wing that builds upon the updates introduced late last season. These adjustments are designed to enhance low-speed downforce, optimize car balance, and provide drivers with greater stability throughout all cornering phases.”
