Tucked away in the rocks of the Hejaz Mountains in Saudi Arabia is Desert Rock, a sustainable, ultra-luxury resort that spans 3 acres and features exclusive villas carved into a cliff.

Desert Rock blends into the landscape, inviting guests to reconnect with nature. Travelers can opt for a holistic treatment that allows them to relax and even rejuvenate. The resort features 5 treatment rooms, aquatic therapy, a yoga pavilion and aerial yoga facilities. A private hammam is also available.

Of course, you can always opt for the simplest and most relaxing option: admiring the unchanging landscape from the sun loungers in the infinity pool.

Exclusive Villas

At Desert Rock Resort, accommodations offer a tranquil, luxurious setting with views of the natural surroundings. Options include family-friendly settings such as the Wadi Villas with private pools and living areas.

But, of course, the appeal lies in the villas carved into the rock or perched high above the resort. The Cliff Hanging Villas offer desert and mountain views. The Mountain Cave Suites, carved into the cliff face, have plunge pools.

There are also the Mountain Crevice Villas, which hang over the edge of the massif and offer unique panoramic views of the desert landscape.

Finally, the Royal Villa is for those seeking the ultimate in luxury and seclusion. It is a private three-bedroom villa with unparalleled space and service.

Unique Experience

Dining at this resort is out of this world. Choices start with Nyra, a wood-fired restaurant featuring local ingredients and helmed by Michelin-starred chef Osman Sezener.

Basalt Restaurant serves healthy breakfasts and modern Indian cuisine.

The bars are Mica, with a menu of mocktails, and Wadi, a pool-side bar with a DJ.

Observatory is the lounge for a sophisticated and memorable evening, with craft cocktails and gourmet pastries.

Fully sustainable

Designed by Oppenheim Architecture and operated by Red Sea Global, the construction of Desert Rock required the excavation of a tunnel into the mountain and a rock carving process that took approximately seven years.

All material from the excavation was recycled and reused in the resort’s construction, while the valley’s ecosystem was enhanced through the planting of native species.

The resort uses energy-efficient systems to reduce its environmental impact. The goal is to enjoy a luxurious atmosphere and immerse oneself in the beauty of the natural environment, but with a sustainable and responsible approach.
