Celebrating 20 Years of Creativity with Louis Vuitton x Murakami

Louis Vuitton and the renowned Japanese artist Takashi Murakami commemorate the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking partnership with the release of an exciting re-edition collection.

Two decades after their first collaboration, which became a defining moment in the world of fashion and art, Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami present the Louis Vuitton × Murakami collection. 

 

This celebratory re-edition reinterprets the original designs with modern innovation while preserving their timeless charm. 

 

Featuring over 200 imaginative pieces, the collection highlights the enduring creative synergy between the House and Murakami, blending artistic vision with traditional craftsmanship, advanced technology, and a unique place in the pop and collector culture of the early 21st century.

Louis Vuitton × Murakami reflects the brand’s relentless pursuit of creativity and innovation, paired with Takashi Murakami’s vibrant and imaginative aesthetic. Known for his fusion of traditional Japanese art, anime, sci-fi, and kawaii characters, Murakami has gained global acclaim for his unique motifs and designs. 

 

These elements, initially brought to life under the guidance of then-artistic director Marc Jacobs, included the bold reinterpretation of Louis Vuitton’s iconic Monogram pattern, marking the first time it had ever been redesigned.

A Revamped Collection for a New Generation

The new Louis Vuitton × Murakami collection expands on this legacy, featuring an extensive range of women’s leather goods, accessories, and fashion pieces. 

Highlights include the Monogram Multicolore pattern—boasting 33 vibrant shades—reimagined on City Bags like the Keepall, Speedy, and Alma BB, as well as belts, wallets, and even skateboards. 

 

The playful LV Hands logo decorates elegant silk scarves and the Alma BB, while Murakami’s iconic Superflat Panda and Superflat Garden motifs adorn sneakers, perfume bottles, and accessories.

The Cherry Blossom design also makes a striking comeback on the Papillon bags and other vibrant pieces, blending whimsy with sophistication.

 

Technological advancements have played a vital role in this re-edition, enhancing the vividness and precision of Murakami’s intricate designs. From silk carrés to wedge espadrilles, each item in the collection showcases the House’s commitment to superior craftsmanship and innovation.

 

To celebrate this milestone, Louis Vuitton will launch the collection within immersive experiences, including pop-ups, in-store activations, and visually captivating campaigns. 

 

The first chapter, debuting worldwide on January 1, 2025, focuses on the Monogram Multicolore motif, while a second chapter arriving in March will spotlight the Cherry Blossom design—perfectly timed for spring.
