The second annual partnership between the renowned whiskey distillery WhistlePig and the world of F1 has resulted in a unique release that stands out not only for its taste but for its unconventional aging process. The reason for this one-of-a-kind finish is due to the involvement of Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber driver, Valtteri Bottas, who also happens to own his own gin brand, Oath Gin.

The first collaboration between WhistlePig and Formula 1 was released a year ago and introduced a rye whiskey flavored with lychee and oolong tea. In that release, some of the barrels underwent an unusual process where they were exposed to G-forces in the Alfa Romeo team’s wind tunnel in Switzerland.

The new Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber Single Barrel Rye Whiskey didn’t go through such extreme measures, but its flavor is equally captivating, thanks to its time spent aging in gin barrels from Bottas’ gin distillery.

Flavorful

The foundation of this new whiskey is WhistlePig’s PiggyBack Rye, which has been aged for six years in new American oak barrels, giving it the characteristic vanilla, caramel, and spice notes that rye whiskey lovers expect. However, the twist comes with its finishing process: it spends two weeks in Bottas’ Oath Gin barrels.

This fusion results in a whiskey that has both depth and a refreshing twist, providing an experience that is as intriguing as it is flavorful. Bottled at 100.77 proof, the alcohol content is a nod to Bottas’ racing number—77—further strengthening the connection between the whiskey and Formula 1.

In a press release, Bottas expressed his excitement about the collaboration, commenting, “I’m thrilled to once again partner with WhistlePig as our team’s official whiskey sponsor. While blending PiggyBack Rye with OΛTH Gin barrels might sound unusual, they actually complement each other perfectly. It’s a thrilling ride from start to finish. Take your time savoring it while I race ahead on the track.”

Exclusive

WhistlePig offers several options for whiskey aficionados and fans of Formula 1 to get their hands on this special release. A standard bottle of this limited-edition rye can be purchased directly from WhistlePig’s website for $60.

For those looking for a more exclusive experience, a $170 option is available, which includes a signed bottle from Bottas along with a regular bottle of PiggyBack Rye.
