Rising along Manhattan’s East Side waterfront, Sutton Tower stands as the tallest residential building in the area. The tower also marks a significant milestone as the first skyscraper in the world designed by renowned architect and designer Thomas Juul-Hansen.

Developed by JVP Development, the project represents a rare convergence of scale, craftsmanship, and architectural restraint within New York City’s evolving skyline.

Sutton Tower embodies a contemporary interpretation of classic New York refinement, reflecting Juul-Hansen’s longstanding dedication to lasting quality and timeless design. Ascending approximately 850 feet, the building is wrapped entirely in Bavarian limestone from its base to its crown—an extraordinary choice in modern high-rise construction.

The exterior composition is articulated in two distinct yet harmonious sections. At street level, the lower portion responds to the character of the surrounding neighborhood, echoing the scale and elegance of nearby historic buildings. As the tower rises, expansive glass surfaces take over, emphasizing verticality, openness, and light.

From Limestone to Skyline

Juul-Hansen’s commitment to hand-crafted detail extends seamlessly into the interiors of Sutton Tower. The building houses 120 corner residences, ranging from one- to five-bedroom layouts. Each home features a minimum of two exposures and floor-to-ceiling windows that capture panoramic views of the East River, Midtown Manhattan, and the broader cityscape beyond.

Refined materials and meticulous detailing define interior finishes. Residences feature wide-plank oak flooring, ebonized oak entry doors, and bespoke wainscoting throughout. Primary bathrooms are designed as private sanctuaries, complete with radiant-heated floors, Laufen soaking tubs, Waterworks fixtures, and bookmatched Calacatta Gold marble slabs used for floors and backsplashes.

Vanities are topped with sinks carved from single blocks of Bianco Dolomiti marble, reinforcing the project’s emphasis on material integrity. Kitchens are centered around Statuarietto marble islands and outfitted with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, paired with custom Italian cabinetry tailored specifically for the residences.

The Art of Residential Architecture

Beyond the private homes, residents have access to The Sutton Club, a comprehensive amenity offering spanning more than 22,000 square feet across five naturally lit floors. The collection of spaces includes a skylit residents’ lounge with an outdoor terrace, a formal dining room equipped with a chef’s kitchen, a screening room, a library, a game room, a children’s playroom, and a multi-sport simulator. Wellness amenities are equally robust, featuring a 50-foot indoor swimming pool, spa treatment rooms, infrared saunas, and a state-of-the-art fitness center with dedicated boxing and movement studios.

Life at Sutton Tower is further enhanced by exclusive lifestyle partnerships with Blade and UOVO: Art, Fashion, Wine. Through Blade, residents receive preferred pricing on helicopter, seaplane, and charter flights connecting to any Blade-accessible destination. UOVO provides preferred rates on wine storage services, along with a complimentary consultation with a cellar management specialist, reinforcing the building’s focus on curated luxury.
