The Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, is preparing for an unforgettable night as it hosts A Racquet at The Rock on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 5:30 PM ET.

This inaugural tennis exhibition will bring elite ATP and WTA stars to an iconic arena that has long been known for sports and entertainment events—but never before tennis.

Fans will witness thrilling matchups in a format tailored for spectacle: best-of-three sets with a 10-point tiebreaker in the third set. With four marquee players set to take the court, the event promises a dazzling fusion of athleticism, personality, and showmanship.

A Landmark Event for the Prudential Center

Prudential Center, often referred to as “The Rock,” will host its first-ever tennis event with A Racquet at The Rock. For over 18 years, this arena has staged concerts, hockey, and basketball, but never a tennis match of this caliber.

The event is organized by Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) in partnership with Unified Events; they aim to create a new tradition by introducing tennis to this storied venue.

From 4:30 PM, attendees can begin arriving and immerse themselves in pre-match activations. The arena will be transformed for tennis—new sight lines, floor configuration, lighting, and court installation all contribute to turning this multipurpose venue into a high-stakes tennis theater.

Matchups That Command Attention

The evening will commence with a women’s matchup: Amanda Anisimova versus Emma Raducanu. Anisimova, a New Jersey native, will face Raducanu in a clash that juxtaposes hometown pride and international flair. Following that, Carlos Alcaraz, currently one of the world’s most dynamic players, will take on Frances Tiafoe in a blockbuster men’s match.

Each match will follow the best-of-three format, but if a third set is required, a 10-point tiebreaker will decide the winner—designed to heighten excitement and keep the night’s tempo brisk. These choices underscore the event’s goal: to offer fans top-tier tennis within an electrifying, compact format.

The Bigger Picture: Why This Matters

For tennis lovers and casual fans alike, A Racquet is more than just an exhibition—it’s symbolic. It signals the sport’s growing appetite for crossover spectacle and venue innovation, especially in areas not traditionally associated with tennis.

By hosting top-ranked players in a non-standard tennis environment like Newark’s major arena, the event broadens the sport’s reach and tests new formats.

Moreover, it’s a homecoming story: Anisimova playing in her native New Jersey adds emotional resonance, while Raducanu, Alcaraz, and Tiafoe are crowd-pullers who bring star power and global appeal. Their participation helps the event transcend a typical exhibition.

What Spectators Can Expect

  • Fan experience: The arena will include premium seating, VIP suites, and lounge activations.

  • Fast-paced format: The 10-point tiebreaker keeps matches dramatic and avoids long final sets.

  • Cultural crossover: Given the venue’s history, the event appeals to music, sports, and mainstream entertainment audiences.

  • Media exposure: As the first tennis event at The Rock, this exhibition will draw significant coverage and potentially chart the path for future installments.
