The Swatch x Guggenheim Collection is a portable museum with a buckle. It launched globally on January 15, 2026, turning four masterpieces into everyday timekeepers.

This drop sits inside Swatch Art Journey, an initiative that frames the wristwatch as a small, public gallery. The twist is scale: art history, shrunk to something you can miss a train with.

How does the Swatch x Guggenheim Collection translate a museum visit into design?

Swatch built the collection with the Guggenheim in New York and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. Three watches reference works in New York, and one points to Venice.

A shared cue ties them together: a double-length second hand, designed as a nod to the transatlantic pairing.

Which artworks define the Swatch x Guggenheim Collection, and why these four?

Each watch is anchored to a specific artwork and date:

  • Degas, Dancers in Green and Yellow (1903), Guggenheim New York.

  • Monet, The Palazzo Ducale, Seen from San Giorgio Maggiore (1908), Guggenheim New York.

  • Klee, The Bavarian Don Giovanni (1919), with the five women’s names integrated into the strap concept.

  • Pollock, Alchemy (1947), from the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice.

Swatch also adds playful mechanics: Monet’s dial glows orange after UV exposure, and Klee’s watch features a calendar wheel whose window color changes daily.

What makes the Swatch x Guggenheim feel “democratic” in 2026?

Availability is the first signal: Swatch states the collection is sold online and in Swatch stores worldwide.

Pricing is the second. In the U.S., models are listed at $105 to $115, depending on the piece.

Material matters too. Swatch’s BIOCERAMIC blends two-thirds zirconium oxide ceramic powder with one-third biosourced material derived from castor oil.

The Swatch x Guggenheim does not replace the museum. It tempts you back into it. By linking New York and Venice, it turns timekeeping into a tiny act of cultural participation.
