Gideon’s Bakehouse’s origin traces back to an unexpected discovery: a weathered 1898 cookbook filled with handwritten notes from a boy named Gideon. Moved by the boy’s unfinished dreams, Lewis decided to bring them to life, naming his bakery after him. What began as a modest stall inside Orlando’s East End Market soon evolved into a destination for those who believe that desserts can tell stories.
Before creating Gideon’s Bakehouse, Steve Lewis pursued a different path as a musician. When that chapter of his life closed, he turned to baking as a form of healing and creative expression. His early experiments led him to develop a cookie unlike any other—one that would later become legendary.
