This year, Louis Vuitton partners once again with celebrated Japanese visionary Takashi Murakami, who reimagines the iconic Capucines bag through eleven extraordinary interpretations.

Each design transforms the classic accessory into a sculptural, kaleidoscopic piece that fuses Murakami’s playful aesthetic with Louis Vuitton’s unparalleled craftsmanship.

The Artistic Canvas of the Capucines

Since its debut in 2019, the Artycapucines project has turned the timeless Capucines bag—named after Rue Neuve-des-Capucines, the street where Louis Vuitton opened its first store in 1854—into a contemporary art platform.

More than thirty international artists have contributed to this creative dialogue, from Beatriz Milhazes to Henry Taylor.

The Artycapucines VII solidifies this legacy by showcasing how innovation and savoir-faire can coexist seamlessly.

Murakami’s Universe in Motion

Each of the eleven designs embodies a different facet of Murakami’s world—from his iconic Smiling Flowers to the imaginative creatures that populate his paintings and sculptures.

The Capucines EW Rainbow reinterprets the bag’s structure through Murakami’s legendary Rainbow Flower motif, a symbol of optimism rendered in a prism of color.

The Capucines Mini Mushroom emerges as a psychedelic marvel, adorned with one hundred meticulously hand-polished mushrooms that shimmer against mirrored silver leather.

Meanwhile, the Capucines Mini Tentacle transforms the artist’s alter ego, Mr. DOB, into a playful octopus, blurring the lines between fantasy and design.

The Capucines EW Dragon pays homage to Murakami’s monumental painting Dragon in Clouds Indigo Blue (2011), combining precision craftsmanship with the fluid energy of brushwork.

Finally, the Capucines BB Golden Garden glows with leather marquetry and gold leaf, a tribute to the artisanal mastery that defines Louis Vuitton’s legacy.

When Artistry Meets Craftsmanship

Every piece in The Artycapucines VII collection is the result of an intricate dialogue between the artist’s imagination and the Maison’s technical mastery.

Louis Vuitton’s artisans employ both traditional and avant-garde techniques, from leather sculpting and embroidery to laser-cut marquetry and metallic casting.

The result is a collection where innovation and heritage merge, proving once again why Louis Vuitton remains a leader in creative luxury.

The Intersection of Fashion and Fine Art

The Artycapucines project continues Louis Vuitton’s century-long commitment to collaborating with artists.

From Gaston-Louis Vuitton’s early commissions in the 1920s to recent partnerships with Yayoi Kusama and Richard Prince, the Maison has consistently treated craftsmanship as an art form.

The opening of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, designed by Frank Gehry, reaffirmed this philosophy on a monumental scale.

The Artycapucines VII not only extends this tradition but also elevates it. Each of the eleven handbags is produced in an extremely limited edition, making them coveted collector’s items.

The collection debuted at Art Basel Paris on October 21, followed by a global reservation period—an event where high fashion and contemporary art will once again intertwine.
