The Red Bull driver, fresh from his Sprint triumph on Saturday, converted pole position into a flawless lights-to-flag win at the Circuit of The Americas, leaving little doubt about his intent to reclaim the top of Formula 1.

Lando Norris fought back brilliantly to take second place after an assertive late overtake on Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, salvaging vital points for McLaren. Meanwhile, his teammate Piastri could only manage fifth after a difficult afternoon marked by fading pace and small but costly mistakes — a stark contrast to his dominant form earlier in the season.

Verstappen’s Texan Takeover

The United States Grand Prix 2025 marked Verstappen’s third victory in four races, reducing what had seemed an unassailable deficit in the Drivers’ Championship.

The Dutchman now trails Piastri by just 40 points with five rounds still to go, while Norris remains firmly in contention, sitting a mere 14 points off the lead. Verstappen’s relentless consistency — and a 23-point gain over the Austin weekend — has breathed new life into the title fight.

It’s a dramatic turnaround for the reigning four-time world champion.

Just a month ago, Piastri appeared on the verge of securing his maiden title after winning the Dutch Grand Prix and opening up a 34-point cushion over Norris. Yet, since then, the Australian’s momentum has faltered. Finishing behind both rivals in four consecutive races, combined with uncharacteristic driving errors, has left McLaren suddenly vulnerable as the season nears its climax.

Austin Power

Lewis Hamilton produced one of his sharpest performances of the year, securing fourth place and capping an encouraging weekend for Ferrari.

Leclerc’s return to the podium ended a five-race drought for the Scuderia, signaling renewed promise for the Italian team as they attempt to close the gap to Mercedes in the Constructors’ standings.

George Russell took sixth for Mercedes, though the team failed to replicate the pace that earned him victory in Singapore two weeks earlier. Yuki Tsunoda finished a strong seventh in the second Red Bull, while Kimi Antonelli’s race ended prematurely after a collision with Carlos Sainz. The incident forced the Williams driver to retire and could result in a grid penalty heading into next weekend’s race in Mexico.

Despite McLaren having already secured the Constructors’ Championship, the battle for second remains fierce. Mercedes’ advantage over Ferrari has narrowed to just seven points, with Red Bull trailing by only three.

As Formula 1 leaves Austin, the tension is palpable — and all eyes turn to Mexico City for the next chapter of this thrilling season.
