The new Omega collection, The Speedmaster Dark and Grey Side of the Moon, continues the maison’s heritage of innovation, craftsmanship, and connection to the stars.

These seven new models—crafted with advanced ceramic engineering and meticulous attention to detail—embody both the pioneering spirit of space exploration and the artistry of Swiss horology.

From the Apollo 8 Legacy to Modern Mastery

When Apollo 8 became the first mission to orbit the Moon in 1968, it marked a milestone in human history. As the spacecraft disappeared beyond radio contact, astronaut Jim Lovell uttered the now-iconic words: “We’ll see you on the other side.” On their wrists, each crew member wore an Omega Speedmaster, the only watch to endure NASA’s rigorous space testing.

Today, Omega celebrates that extraordinary heritage with a contemporary collection that pushes the limits of material science and design. The Dark and Grey Side of the Moon represents not only the enduring partnership between Omega and space exploration but also a declaration of the brand’s ongoing pursuit of perfection.

Redefining Technical Mastery

The 2025 Omega Speedmaster Dark and Grey Side of the Moon collection reflects years of refinement in both movement development and ceramic engineering. Each model showcases a redesigned case architecture with slimmer, more elegant proportions, while maintaining the bold 44.25 mm diameter that defines the Speedmaster aesthetic.

Central to the evolution is the mastery of ceramic craftsmanship. Omega has introduced a new bevelled polished ceramic process, achieving remarkable precision and light reflection. The result is a case that exudes depth, brilliance, and resilience. Enhanced Liquidmetal™ technology ensures superior scratch resistance and longevity, while the two-layer ceramic dials—crafted with laser-brushed textures—capture light with a mesmerizing play of shadow and sheen.

Seven Distinct Expressions of Innovation

Each new model offers a unique interpretation of Omega’s space-inspired DNA. Among the highlights:

The Black Edition Co-Axial Master Chronometer 9908 – a slimmer manual-winding chronograph featuring a matte black dial with red accents and grey transfers, offering exceptional clarity and balance.

The Refined Co-Axial Master Chronometer 9900 – a reworked version of the original Dark Side of the Moon, now enhanced with a two-plate ceramic dial, Liquidmetal™ tachymeter, and a refined silhouette for greater wearability.

The All-Black Co-Axial Master Chronometer 9900 – featuring darkened movement components, a laser-sandblasted ceramic dial, and diamond-polished indexes filled with Super-LumiNova for legibility in the darkest conditions.

The Apollo 8 Tribute Model – perhaps the most evocative of the collection, this watch commemorates the historic observation that “the Moon is essentially grey.” Its skeletonised dial reveals a laser-ablated lunar surface, depicting the near side of the Moon on the front and the far side on the caseback—an artistic and mechanical masterpiece powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3869.

Form Meets Function: Strap Innovation

Omega also introduces a new generation of straps designed to elevate comfort and reinforce the narrative of exploration. The nylon straps now feature rubber lining for improved wearability, while the rubber versions boast embossed lunar-surface patterns on the reverse—creating a subtle tactile link to the cosmos. These enhancements ensure that form, function, and storytelling are seamlessly integrated in every detail.

The Legacy of Omega’s Pioneering Spirit

For over six decades, Omega has set the standard for precision timekeeping under the most extreme conditions—from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of space. With the Speedmaster Dark and Grey Side of the Moon collection, the brand continues to build upon this unmatched heritage. Each watch is not merely an accessory but a symbol of human curiosity, craftsmanship, and the timeless drive to explore.

As Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of Omega, noted: “The Dark Side of the Moon collection embodies Omega’s pioneering spirit that has guided us to the Moon. These new models champion that extraordinary legacy while introducing innovations that will define chronographs for generations to come.”
