A Major Investment in Sustainable Innovation

Chanel has committed between €50 million and €80 million to bring Nevold to life—an investment that reflects its serious dedication to circular fashion.

Unlike traditional sustainability initiatives, Nevold operates as a fully independent entity under the leadership of Sophie Brocart, former CEO of Patou. This independence highlights Chanel’s belief that circularity is not a passing trend but a critical evolution for the future of luxury.

Nevold is designed to scale industrial recycling processes by focusing on pre-consumer textile waste, including production scraps, unsold products, and leftover fabrics.

These materials are converted into regenerated fibers that meet luxury quality standards. This approach ensures that every Chanel product continues to deliver the luxe amenities that clients expect while supporting environmental responsibility.

From Waste to Luxe: How Nevold Transforms Materials

Nevold is already reshaping Chanel’s supply chain. Its innovative textile processes produce blended yarns that maintain the signature look of Chanel’s iconic tweeds, alongside recycled leather components used in accessories and footwear.

Today, 30% of Chanel handbags and 50% of shoes feature recycled leather reinforcements, demonstrating a significant leap toward sustainable production.

What’s remarkable is that these recycled elements do not compromise quality. Clients still experience the same luxe amenities, whether it’s the elegance of a recycled tweed blazer or the strength and beauty of a handbag with sustainable leather accents.

Even structural details—like the linings inside shoes or the reinforcements in bags—are crafted using sustainable materials without sacrificing comfort or durability.

Nevold’s Impact Beyond Fashion

Nevold’s ambition doesn’t stop at Chanel. As an open platform, it extends its innovative solutions beyond fashion into industries such as automotive, hospitality, sportswear, and interior design.

This cross-industry collaboration promotes the broader use of sustainable materials and accelerates the shift toward a circular economy.

Nevold works alongside leaders like L’Atelier des Matières, Filatures du Parc, and Authentic Material, as well as research institutions and tech startups.

Together, they refine recycling technologies to ensure that materials meet both the aesthetic and performance demands of luxury fashion innovation.

Luxury Without Compromise: The New Standard in Eco-Friendly Fashion

Nevold proves that eco-friendly luxury is not only viable but scalable and desirable. By integrating regenerated fibers and circular processes, Chanel continues to deliver on its promise of exceptional quality and design.

Customers still enjoy the same impeccable craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the full experience of luxe amenities, now paired with the knowledge that their choices support a sustainable future.

This innovative project redefines what it means to be a luxury brand in the 21st century. Chanel’s Nevold demonstrates that circular fashion is more than just a sustainability goal—it’s the future of luxury itself.
