All eyes in the fashion world are set on Friday, June 27, as JW Anderson prepares to unveil his first collection for Dior

This monumental shift in creative direction comes with an equally exciting announcement: the appointment of soccer star Kylian Mbappé as the new ambassador of the French fashion house.

This pairing marks a pivotal moment, not just for Dior but for the entire industry.

A Face, A Message, A Look

JW Anderson revealed the collaboration via Instagram, with the message: “Kylian Mbappé is the voice of a generation and an inspiration beyond sports.”

“These videos reveal the charisma that makes him the perfect ambassador. Get ready for Dior Summer 2026,”, added. With this, the first look of Dior’s new chapter was officially unveiled—and it came through Mbappé.

The fusion of Mbappé and Dior isn’t a marketing move; it’s a strategy to reshape legacy through fresh energy.

JW Anderson Takes the Helm

Back on April 17, Anderson officially took charge of Dior’s menswear division. By June 2, following Kim Jones and Maria Grazia Chiuri’s exit, he was leading the brand entirely.

It wasn’t a surprise but confirmation sparked enthusiasm across fashion capitals.

After a successful decade redefining Loewe, Anderson built a universe around the Spanish brand that captured global attention.

Now LVMH expects him to bring that same magic to Dior, a brand deeply entrenched in heritage but always hungry for reinvention.

The Teasers That Built Anticipation

Through a series of Instagram hints, Anderson laid the groundwork for what to expect. A new striped fabric. A return to lowercase in the logo.

A ladybug on a bed of four-leaf clovers. Then came the artistic cues: Polaroids by Andy Warhol featuring Jean-Michel Basquiat and Lee Radziwill, muses for the men’s and women’s lines, respectively.

Mbappé: Elegance in Motion

In the latest Dior video, Mbappé effortlessly ties a necktie before looking into the camera and saying “Dior” in flawless French.

He wears a slightly boxy grey wool suit, a sky-blue striped shirt, and a classic Oxford tie with navy and burgundy stripes.

This isn’t random—it echoes Basquiat’s late-life style, often marked by tailored suits worn unconventionally.

With his signature dreadlocks resembling a crown, Basquiat’s image has become timeless.

Anderson clearly uses this symbolism to launch his era at Dior, using Mbappé as the modern-day king of style.

A Glimpse of Greatness

Though the teaser reveals only a slice of what’s to come, the subtle shift in branding is already apparent. Say goodbye to “Homme” or “Men” labels; this is simply Dior, a single identity under one vision.

Mbappé and Dior stand at a cultural crossroads. With the Real Madrid star now embodying Dior’s future, Anderson delivers not just fashion but an entire philosophy.

The Bigger Picture

This debut is more than a fashion event—it’s the evolution of a storied house adapting to modern codes.

JW Anderson is known for rejecting obvious tropes, instead drawing from culture, craft, and subversion. And with Mbappé by his side, he builds a narrative where elegance meets relevance.

The world eagerly awaits June 27, when the full story will be told on the runway.

Until then, we’ve seen just enough to believe that Mbappé and Dior are more than a partnership.
