The ambitious reimagination of the Arthur Ashe Stadium reflects the US Open’s commitment to innovation, enhancing both the athlete and fan experience at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

For over 25 years, Arthur Ashe Stadium has stood as the symbol of tennis excellence: the main stage of the US Open. Now, it is getting an upgrade designed to ensure its legacy for another quarter-century.

The changes are not minor—this is a sweeping transformation aimed at preserving the soul of the stadium while updating its function and design.

Fans, athletes, and partners can expect a fully modernized facility that enhances every moment spent at the US Open.

The revitalization will unfold in three carefully managed phases and reach completion by the 2027 US Open.

Importantly, no games or fan experiences will be disrupted during the 2025 and 2026 tournaments.

Elevating the Fan Experience Like Never Before

The Arthur Ashe Stadium will undergo a substantial renovation:

  • A stunning new Grand Entrance will welcome visitors in a way befitting the grandeur of the venue.

  • The concourse at the promenade level will expand by 40 percent, creating spacious areas for fans to move freely.

  • Two entirely new levels of luxury suites will offer exceptional comfort, while courtside seating will grow by 2,000, making the courtside experience more immersive than ever.

  • Fans will also enjoy new dining areas, lounges, and exclusive hospitality sections—ensuring an elite experience at every level.

A Game-Changing Player Performance Center

Another cornerstone of the project is the $250 million Player Performance Center.

This ultra-modern, two-story facility will serve as a sanctuary for athletes to train, recover, and relax during the intense weeks of the tournament.

Reimagined locker rooms will create a spa-like atmosphere, offering comfort and luxury in equal measure.

The center will also feature a dedicated player café, expanded dining options, and a private courtyard.

It will welcome nearly 2,800 players and their teams each year in the most supportive environment possible.

Designed by Visionaries for Champions

  • ROSSETTI, the firm that designed the original Arthur Ashe Stadium, will again lead the way. They bring a proven record, having worked with elite sports teams such as the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Lakers.

  • Daniel Libeskind, best known for the World Trade Center redevelopment, designed the stadium’s new entrance.

  • Garrett Singer, a leading designer of top American restaurants and lounges, will bring his creative flair to the stadium’s new club and hospitality spaces.

Construction Phases with No Disruption

The transformation of Arthur Ashe Stadium will take place across three phases, all carefully planned to avoid impacting US Open operations.

  • Phase 1 (Before the 2025 US Open) focuses on structural groundwork and the lower part of the Player Performance Center. Most changes will not yet be visible.
  • Phase 2 (Between 2025 and 2026) includes the removal and reconstruction of the courtside seating and suite levels, as well as finishing the exterior structure of the Player Performance Center.
  • Phase 3 (Between 2026 and 2027) will complete the Grand Entrance, upgrade the promenade, enhance all public areas, and finalize the Player Performance Center’s interior.

By the 2027 US Open, both the Arthur Ashe Stadium and the Player Performance Center will be fully operational and future-ready.
