Bottega Veneta 50 years of the Intrecciato marks not just a number—it’s a celebration of artistry, community, and evolution

At the heart of this tribute is the Intrecciato, the iconic weave introduced in 1975.

This handwoven technique is more than a design—it’s the soul of the house. The campaign “Craft Is Our Language” honors this technique with intention and cinematic beauty.

Over five decades, Intrecciato has transcended fashion. It is not a trend. It is a dialogue between craft and emotion.

Bottega Veneta has placed this weave at the center of its storytelling.

Not only is it about making bags or shoes; it’s about building identity through craftsmanship. Hands do not just construct—they connect.

A Campaign Rooted in Collaboration

The campaign unfolds in stills and films by Jack Davison and choreographer Lenio Kaklea.

It features a multicultural cast: Julianne Moore, Tyler, The Creator, Zadie Smith, and I.N. from Stray Kids.

Each image becomes a narrative of interaction—between material and muse, craft and movement.

These figures aren’t passive models; they are woven into the story. Their presence emphasizes how Bottega Veneta thrives by reflecting real individuality. It’s a house that listens more than it speaks.

From Past to Present: A Living Thread

The presence of Edward Buchanan, former design director, symbolizes the house’s deep memory.

His return reminds us that Bottega doesn’t discard its past; it weaves it into the future. Every designer, every artisan, becomes part of a lineage.

The weave isn’t static. It adapts. It flows with the wearer’s rhythm. Over time, it becomes personal.

The Power of Quiet Identity

In a fashion landscape loud with logos, Bottega Veneta has always remained silent.

There are no flashy emblems, no screaming monograms. Intrecciato is the brand, instantly recognizable yet wordless.

Craft Is Culture, Craft Is Connection

Inspired by Bruno Munari’s Supplement to the Italian Dictionary, the campaign celebrates nonverbal communication.

In a world filled with digital noise, gestures become sacred. Artisans and muses exchange gestures—intimate, universal, ancestral. They speak through motion.

It moves beyond borders, echoing through every fold of leather, every stitch in time.

A Conceptual Dictionary of Meaning

To extend the celebration, Bottega Veneta will release a book in September featuring 50 hand gestures.

This printed collection becomes a tactile vocabulary—one that explains the house’s values without a single word.

Paired with a second wave of campaign visuals, the book deepens the message. Bottega Veneta 50 years is not just a look backward.

It is an archive of meaning, style, and the subtle power of permanence.

Beyond Fashion: A Philosophy in Motion

The legacy of Bottega Veneta is not tied to seasons. It is built in workshops, carried by generations, and lived on streets and runways alike.
