Longines commemorates a century of global horological mastery with the Longines Spirit Zulu Time 1925, a watch that unites tradition and innovation.
Its latest campaign, featuring actor and global ambassador Henry Cavill, centers around the profound question that transcends borders and languages: “What time is it there?”
This simple phrase becomes the emotional core of a timepiece crafted for connection, precision, and modern elegance.
From Ottoman Innovations to Greenwich Precision
Longines has long stood at the forefront of timekeeping, particularly for travelers crossing continents and time zones.
As early as 1908, the brand developed “Turkish Watches” for the Ottoman Empire, which could display two time zones—Eastern and Western—simultaneously.
But it wasn’t until 1925 that Longines introduced its first dual time zone wristwatch.
This innovative model was named “Zulu Time,” referencing the “Z” maritime signal flag representing UTC+0, the baseline for global timekeeping.
