Celebrated as the cradle of the Renaissance, Florence holds a deep historical and artistic connection to the fashion house founded in 1921. For this show Gucci’s Cruise 2026, this city was more than just a backdrop; it was a muse, a narrative force, and the soul of the collection.

In staging show within the storied walls of Palazzo Settimanni—home to the Gucci Archive—the brand paid tribute to its legacy while exploring new aesthetic horizons.

The show was a celebration of evolution through tradition. Palazzo Settimanni, with its 15th-century architecture, served as both a literal and symbolic time capsule. The collection drew heavily from the historical richness of Florence and the extensive Gucci Archive. The result was a captivating blend of minimalism and maximalism.

Lily of the valley

Rich brocades, velvets, jacquards, and layered lace referenced the city’s centuries-old fabric craftsmanship, while sleek, exaggerated silhouettes offered a modern edge. The show embraced Florence’s long-standing position as a fashion capital, where artisanal knowledge meets contemporary vision.

A key element of Gucci’s Cruise 2026 show was the introduction of the Gucci Giglio bag. Named after the giglio—the lily symbol that has represented Florence since the medieval era—the bag stands as a tribute to the city’s enduring influence on the brand. Crafted with elegant precision, the bag was made available for purchase immediately following the event, reinforcing the connection between heritage and innovation.

Another standout moment from Gucci’s Cruise 2026 show was the debut of the ‘Monili’ high jewelry collection, co-created with Italian jeweler Pomellato. Referencing archival Pomellato pieces from 1984, the line fused soft leather with gold and pavé diamonds in designs that conveyed both strength and delicacy. These pieces highlighted Gucci’s deep respect for craftsmanship and its ongoing commitment to collaboration with other iconic Italian houses.

Cruising through time

As always, Gucci’s aesthetic leaned into a cinematic and theatrical narrative. The fashion house’s distinct sense of Italian style—defined by ‘sprezzatura’, or effortless elegance—flowed through the garments, accessories, and presentation itself. Every detail, from belt buckles engraved with reinvented Gs to oversized yet fluid tailoring, contributed to a cohesive and immersive experience.

Fittingly, Gucci’s Cruise 2026 show did not end with a traditional runway finale. Instead, models exited the palazzo and entered the piazza, merging Gucci’s vision with the streets of Florence. This symbolic act expressed the house’s desire to remain woven into the life and culture of the city that shaped it.

In every detail, from material to movement, Gucci’s Cruise 2026 show honored its origins while imagining new futures. It wasn’t just a collection—it was a living homage to Florence and a confident step forward for the brand.
