From May 16 to 18, the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, in Imola, will once again roar to life with the sound of F1 engines.

But despite the energy and preparation, the future of the circuit on the world stage remains unresolved and tense.

The Contract: A Clock Ticking Down

The current deal that brought Imola back to Formula 1 in 2020 is nearing its expiration. No renewal is confirmed.

This agreement marked the return of the Santerno circuit after a 14-year absence, thrilling fans around the globe.

With Imola 2025 rapidly approaching, questions about its long-term presence in the sport are intensifying.

Political Voices Speak with Purpose

Michele De Pascale, president of the Emilia-Romagna region, made the local stance clear: “We have no intention of giving up.”

His words resonate across Italy: a declaration of resilience, unity, and unwavering ambition to keep the Grand Prix alive.

However, De Pascale emphasized that now isn’t the time to discuss negotiations openly or speculate about outcomes.

Tullio Del Sette of the ACI noted that Monza’s contract has been renewed until 2031, but that doesn’t eliminate Imola.

He emphasized the goal: maintaining two Formula 1 races in Italy, not forcing internal rivalry between historic circuits.

Similarly, Imola’s mayor Marco Panieri stressed that the real challenge lies in international competition, not domestic division.

Imola 2025: Numbers that Matter

Expectations for Imola 2025 are high: over 200,000 fans are projected to attend during the three-day event.

Temporary grandstands will raise the daily capacity to 92,500, ensuring as many spectators as possible feel the thrill.

An estimated €300 million economic impact reinforces the Grand Prix’s importance to both regional and national economies.

All Eyes on Antonelli

Among the top stories of Imola 2025 will be the debut of 18-year-old Kimi Antonelli from Bologna.

Racing his home Grand Prix for the first time, Antonelli will attract massive attention from local and international fans.

From the Mercedes AMG Petronas, he represents the next generation of Italian motorsport talent—young, fearless, and full of promise.
