Recently, Trojena successfully completed its first snowmaking tests, marking a significant milestone in a development that promises to bring year-round skiing to a region better known for its vast deserts and scorching temperatures.

Although Saudi Arabia rarely experiences natural snowfall, Trojena’s high-altitude location and dry desert climate have proven suitable for traditional snowmaking techniques under certain conditions.

The manufactured snow, reportedly the largest amount ever produced outdoors in the country, is a testament to the project’s viability.

Where Mountains Meet Innovation

Located 50 kilometers from the Gulf of Aqaba, Trojena is set in a mountainous region boasting the highest peaks in Saudi Arabia, reaching approximately 2,600 meters above sea level.

This elevation results in temperatures that are, on average, 10 degrees lower than the rest of the country, sometimes approaching freezing during winter nights.

The resort will feature over 30 kilometers of ski slopes, made possible through a combination of artificial surfaces, advanced all-weather snowmaking technology, and conventional snow production during colder months.

Trojena is expected to become the world’s largest artificial ski environment, pushing the boundaries of engineering and innovation.

A Visionary Project with Global Recognition

Originally unveiled in 2022, Trojena was given a projected opening date of 2026.

Despite its early-stage construction at the time, it was chosen to host the 10th Asian Winter Games in 2029, a bold statement of confidence in the project’s success.

Although the 2026 launch remains uncertain, progress is moving swiftly.

The construction site is home to the world’s largest crane, playing a crucial role in assembling the massive steel structure that will serve as the centerpiece of the resort.

This futuristic superstructure will span 32 levels and feature ski runs descending from and around it.

When measured horizontally, it will surpass twice the height of the world’s tallest building, solidifying its place as a marvel of modern architecture.

A Skiing Experience Unlike Any Other

A statement from the project emphasizes that Trojena will introduce a never-before-seen outdoor skiing experience in the region, particularly in the Gulf countries, which are traditionally associated with desert landscapes.

Beyond skiing, the resort aims to attract 700,000 visitors annually and establish a community of 7,000 permanent residents by 2030.

Luxury Residences with Spectacular Views

Trojena will not only serve as a world-class ski destination but will also offer high-end residential developments designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment.

The Slope Residences, positioned near the ski runs, will provide panoramic views of the resort’s artificial lake.

Meanwhile, luxury mansions will be strategically placed to showcase the region’s stunning natural beauty, creating a lifestyle that merges adventure with exclusivity.

Redefining Mountain Resorts

Trojena is set to revolutionize the concept of mountain resorts.

The project’s cutting-edge design, advanced architecture, and integration of virtual reality will provide a next-generation experience unlike any other.

With its bold vision, groundbreaking technology, and commitment to redefining luxury and adventure.
