What Is PLATFORM 2025-2028?

PLATFORM 2025-2028 is more than a program—it’s a movement. Coordinated by Lieux Publics and supported by over 20 partners across Europe, it offers a pathway for 200 emerging artists to create art in public spaces and unconventional venues.

The program unfolds in three cycles, each lasting 18 months. Artists start with learning and discovery, gaining access to online resources, immersive labs, and exchanges with experienced creators. The second phase focuses on producing and presenting, where selected projects receive production grants, residencies, and showcase opportunities at international festivals.

The goal is to empower artists to push boundaries while addressing themes like sustainability, cultural identity, and urban renewal.

How Does PLATFORM Support Emerging Artists?

Emerging artists are at the heart of this initiative. But what defines “emerging”? According to IN SITU, these are creators who bring fresh perspectives to public art—whether through innovative aesthetics, regional representation, or generational shifts.

PLATFORM offers tailored support:

  • Training Programs: Online courses on public space art production.
  • Immersive Labs: Workshops fostering collaboration across disciplines.
  • Residencies: Time and resources for selected projects to refine their ideas.
  • Showcase Opportunities: Projects are showcased at festivals in Spain, Kosovo, Austria, and beyond.

This comprehensive support system ensures that artists not only create but also connect with audiences globally.

Why Does PLATFORM Matter for Public Spaces?

Public spaces are more than physical locations—they’re cultural meeting points reflecting societal values. PLATFORM encourages art that engages communities and transforms everyday environments into thought-provoking experiences.

The program emphasizes sustainability, with eco-conscious practices such as green mobility and reducing ecological impact during production. PLATFORM also fosters inclusivity by supporting artists from regions where public space art is less visible, enriching Europe’s cultural fabric and challenging traditional notions of public art.

PLATFORM 2025-2028 is reshaping how we engage with public spaces. By supporting emerging artists and championing sustainability, it sets the stage for a future where creativity thrives in unexpected places. As the program unfolds, one thing is clear: public spaces will never look—or feel—the same again.
