London Fashion Week has become a leading global hub for creativity and a celebrated tribute to heritage. This is evident in the tribute to Dame Mary Quant, the visionary behind the miniskirt, by the Jumeirah Carlton Tower.

The distinguished Knightsbridge hotel has organized an exclusive exhibition in the lobby featuring a vintage dress by the designer.

A nostalgic look at swinging London

This striking display, available for viewing until February 28, merges British fashion history with modern luxury, offering visitors an immersive experience into a transformative era of style.

Mary Quant wasn’t just a designer; she was a revolutionary force in the industry. Her bold, playful patterns and daring silhouettes defined the youthful, rebellious spirit of the 1960s, reshaping the landscape of contemporary fashion.

The vintage dress showcased at Jumeirah Carlton Tower encapsulates this iconic period, inviting guests to step back into a time when style was fearless, expressive, and utterly groundbreaking. Enhancing the nostalgic ambiance, the celebrated floral artisans at Moyses Stevens have crafted an installation inspired by Quant’s signature colors and bold aesthetic, adding a vibrant touch to the tribute.

To complement the exhibit, Jumeirah Carlton Tower is elevating the experience with an exclusive culinary indulgence. The Chinoiserie is offering a limited-edition dessert that reflects Quant’s distinctive color palette, featuring layers of vanilla and tonka, almond sponge, exotic fruit cream, and delicate white chocolate flowers in shades of vivid purple and orange.

A fusion of tradition and bold creativity

This season’s London Fashion Week opened with a striking display of gender-fluid fashion, as designer Harris Reed unveils his signature silhouettes. Known for his bold, theatrical approach to design, Reed—who also serves as the creative director of Nina Ricci—will debut his latest collection under his eponymous label, which he describes as “Romanticism Gone Nonbinary”. The show, held at the prestigious Tate Britain, promises to be a highlight of the LFW Autumn/Winter 2025 calendar.

From Friday onward, the event, organized by the British Fashion Council (BFC), will welcome some of its most celebrated designers. Regulars such as Erdem, Simone Rocha, Richard Quinn, and Roksanda will take over the runways, culminating in the highly anticipated Burberry showcase on Monday evening.

Amidst speculation surrounding the future of the brand’s creative leadership, Burberry finds itself at a critical juncture. Reports suggest that Daniel Lee, who has struggled to modernize the heritage house since his appointment over two years ago, may soon be replaced by British designer Kim Jones, who recently departed Dior Men.

New brands

While London Fashion Week remains a major player on the global fashion stage, its landscape has evolved. Luxury houses such as Hermès, LVMH, and Prada, known for incorporating exotic leathers like snake and crocodile skin, do not participate in LFW, having shifted their presence to Paris, Milan, and New York over the past decade.

Additionally, this season’s edition has been shortened by one day compared to the previous Autumn/Winter collections, with the absence of rising talents like Molly Goddard and Sinead O’Dwyer marking a noticeable change.

Despite these shifts, London Fashion Week continues to champion innovation, heritage, and the fearless creativity that has long defined British fashion. With a blend of nostalgic tributes and cutting-edge design, this season’s event promises to leave an indelible mark on the industry.
