A new star has emerged in the world of tennis, and her name is Zheng Qinwen. While she may not yet be a household name for the general public, tennis enthusiasts and major brands, including luxury brands such as Dior and Rolex, have certainly taken notice.

Despite not having secured a Grand Slam title or reached the No. 1 spot in the world rankings, Zheng has already become the highest-paid female athlete on the planet at just 22 years old.

Recently, luxury fashion house Dior has officially signed the Chinese tennis sensation currently ranked No. 5 in the WTA, to a prestigious global endorsement deal. Zheng is set to replace British player Emma Raducanu as the new face of Dior, marking a significant milestone in her rising career.

With endorsement deals alone, Zheng Qinwen is earning close to $30 million annually. According to reports from Marca, she is currently the face of 14 major brands, with the latest addition being Dior.

A national icon in China

This collaboration has further propelled her position in Forbes’ rankings. In the most recent update, she was listed as the fourth highest-earning female athlete, trailing behind tennis stars Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek, as well as skier Eileen Gu. However, with her latest sponsorship deals, she is now believed to have surpassed them, securing the title of the world’s highest-paid female athlete.

During the offseason, Zheng Qinwen expanded her growing list of sponsorships by adding Audi and Gatorade to an already impressive portfolio that includes Nike, McDonald’s, and Rolex. After claiming the gold medal at the Paris Olympics, she quickly became a national icon in China. As the country’s most prominent tennis star, she has brands eagerly lining up for the opportunity to associate their names with hers.

TENNIS magazine reported that she has also extended her partnership with Alipay, China’s leading digital payment service. This renewal came shortly after her lucrative agreement with Audi, which was finalized at the end of last season.

An elite competitor

From Audi to Alipay, numerous brands have placed their trust in a Chinese tennis player whose game reflects a Spanish influence. Under the guidance of Catalan former player and coach Pere Riba, Zheng has elevated her performance to new heights. Among her notable achievements, she claimed the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, further solidifying her status as an elite competitor.

With an impressive career record of 225 victories and 94 defeats, Zheng Qinwen has already secured five WTA singles titles.

Her image has already turned her into a marketing powerhouse, drawing the attention of top brands. However, it is her powerful and dynamic style of play that now threatens to elevate her to the very pinnacle of the tennis world.
