The 2025 Formula 1 season is set to bring thrilling changes, from a fierce battle for supremacy on the grid to historic driver moves and exciting new partnerships.

Hamilton and Ferrari: a long-awaited union

It may seem unbelievable, but nearly a year has passed since the groundbreaking announcement that Lewis Hamilton would be joining Ferrari in 2025. While speculation about this move had circulated for years, it never truly seemed within reach—until it became reality.

Hamilton’s departure from Mercedes, the team he joined in 2013, marks the end of one of the longest and most successful partnerships in Formula 1 history. Now, all eyes are on how the seven-time world champion will adapt to the Scuderia.

The past three seasons have been far from easy for Hamilton, as Mercedes struggled to regain its former dominance. However, after breaking a 945-day winless streak with an emotional victory in 2024, the British driver will undoubtedly be hungry for more success. Ferrari, on an upward trajectory, provides him with the perfect opportunity to add to his already illustrious career.

A new wave of rookies hits the Formula 1 grid

Driver lineups for the 2025 season will see several fresh faces making their full-time debuts in Formula 1. At Haas, Ollie Bearman returns after making waves as a stand-in driver in 2024, particularly with his remarkable points-scoring performance when he was called up at the last minute to replace an unwell Carlos Sainz at Ferrari in Saudi Arabia.

Bearman’s former Formula 2 teammate, Kimi Antonelli, will also join the grid, taking over Lewis Hamilton’s vacant seat at Mercedes. At just 18 years old, Antonelli’s meteoric rise through the motorsport ranks—skipping Formula 3 entirely—has been impressive, but his biggest challenge yet awaits him.

Meanwhile, Alpine has entrusted Jack Doohan with a full-time seat, replacing Esteban Ocon as Pierre Gasly’s new teammate. The Australian got an early start with his Formula 1 debut in the 2024 season finale in Abu Dhabi after Ocon’s unexpected departure, and he will now begin his first full campaign in front of a home crowd when the season kicks off on March 14-16.

Additionally, the top two contenders from the 2024 Formula 2 championship will make their transition to Formula 1. Gabriel Bortoleto, last year’s title winner, will race for Kick Sauber alongside veteran Nico Hülkenberg, while runner-up Isack Hadjar will take Liam Lawson’s spot at RB.
