The Formula 1 season is set to kick off on March 13-16 with the Louis Vuitton Australian Grand Prix. But a month prior, on February 19, Ferrari is set to wow audiences at an exhibition in Maranello with the unveiling of the SF 25 single-seater.

Previously known by its code name Project 677, last Thursday, Lewis Hamilton revealed that the new single-seater is officially called the SF 25.

It’ll be unveiled at Fiorano, Ferrari’s private circuit in Maranello, with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc doing the honors.

Even though it’s a top-secret project, some details have already leaked to automotive blogs and social networks. Word is that the SF 25 will be 95% new and have only 5% of components in common with the SF-24.

According to some rumors, it’ll be more like the SF 23 because the SF 24 had some issues with tire management last season. Here are some of the cool new features of the SF 25 that we’ve seen online, especially on Car & Driver and Itapassion, to improve aerodynamics.

Improving cornering performance

Improving the braking system and cornering performance are priorities, so a pull-rod suspension system was adopted at the front. This suspension system helps improve airflow directed toward the center of the car.

Additionally, there will be changes to the front wing, nose, and bodywork. The external change will be more evident in the nose to improve airflow. In this new version of the SF, the chassis modifications will allow a more balanced weight distribution at the rear of the car.

Inside of the machine

In addition to external changes aimed at improving aerodynamics, engineers have concentrated on enhancing engine cooling to better withstand the high temperatures on the track, with the objective of achieving a slight increase in performance.

Specifically, the Scuderia Ferrari team is expected to implement modifications that will enhance the aerodynamics of the engine cover. Additionally, the radiators will be positioned higher, behind the air intake, to enhance the car’s overall dynamics.

The redesign of the hood will also enhance heat flow management.

Ferrari takes risks

The 2025 season is crucial for Ferrari, which has not won a drivers’ championship since 2007. This time they are counting on seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton, who until last year drove for Mercedes AMG.

We’ll take risks, otherwise we’re dead. It’s never easy to develop a new GP car, but with this year’s it’s even more difficult because 2025 is not just any season,” Ferrari team boss Frédéric Vasseur was quoted as saying by Car and Driver.

I think we are making good progress, both with the team and the car. Everything is evolving in the right direction. But I’m also convinced that it won’t be easy. McLaren is doing a great job and I am sure that Red Bull Racing and Mercedes will also do their best to get back to the top,” concluded Vasseur.
