Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, just 23 years old, won the Australian Open for the second year in a row, confirming the No. 1 ranking he has held since becoming the world’s top-ranked player last June.

After the match, Sinner strapped on a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, one of the most iconic models from the Swiss brand for which he is an ambassador.

It took him three sets (6/3 7/6 6/3) to defeat the 27-year-old German Alexander Zverev, the number 2 in the ATP rankings. With this championship, Sinner wins 3 Grand Slam titles in just two years: the Australian Open (2) and the US Open (1).

He also has 16 other ATP titles since he turned professional in 2018. Most of them achieved in 2024 (8).

The choice of champions

As a brand ambassador, Sinner is naturally expected to wear a Rolex when he appears in public. He has a wide range of options to choose from: Cellini, Sky-Dweller, Submariner, and GMT Master II, among others.

Last year he opted for the Submariner Date, while Rolexs other renowned tennis ambassador, Carlos Alcaraz, wore the Daytona.

Alcaraz has always preferred one of the more limited versions of the watch, the one with the meteorite dial.

But now Sinner has strapped on an 18-karat Everose Cosmograph Daytona, with a Cerachrom bezel, a sundust dial with gold indexes and hands, and bright black chronograph counters.

Two Rolex patents

The Everose on the case of the Sinner’s Daytona is a Rolex patented gold alloy, which is gold combined with copper and platinum to give it the pink hue and help preserve the color longer.

The bracelet material is Oysterflex, another Rolex creation, which combines a flexible metal layer of titanium and nickel alloy, with a high-performance and flexible elastomer.

In case you’re interested, the reference of the Sinner model, with 40mm case in Everose, is 126515LN.

The Daytona is perhaps of the most elegant and reliable high-end sports watches. The Cosmograph Daytona is a chronograph launched in 1963, conceived for racing drivers and automotive enthusiasts.

One of the most famous Daytona is the one that belonged to Paul Newman and was auctioned in 2017 for almost $18 million.
