Ferrari will unveil the new Formula 1 single-seater to be driven by Lewis Hamilton, so far known as Project 677, on 19 February.
The Formula 1 season will start on March 16 with the Australian GP. But before that, Scuderia Ferrari will unveil its new single-seater on February 19, known so far as Project 677, the car that the team’s new driver, Lewis Hamilton, will drive throughout the season.
Project 677, the code name of Ferrari’s new single-seater, will be unveiled at Fiorano, the team’s private circuit in Maranello. The presentation will be in the hands of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.
What is so special about the new Ferrari? That it will be 95% new, i.e. it will have only 5% of components in common with the SF-24, which presented certain inconsistencies and problems with tire management last season.
The day before Ferrari’s presentation in London, on February 18, the teams participating in the 2025 Formula 1 season will be presented.
While the day of the presentation of the new car arrives, Hamilton began his immersion program at Ferrari headquarters. Today the seven-time Formula 1 champion made his debut on the track at the private Fiorano circuit with the Ferrari team, driving the SF-23.
Today Hamilton not only spent time and exchanged views with team chief Frederic Vasseur, Ferrari’s executive team, and new race engineer Riccardo Adami.
In addition to 30 laps of the Fiorano circuit, Hamilton checked the adjustments to his seat and steering wheel. Of course, before and after, the driver posed with the engineering team for fans and media.
“I’ve been lucky enough to have many firsts in my career, from the first test to the first race, podium, win and championship, so I wasn’t sure how many more firsts I had but driving a Scuderia Ferrari HP car for the first time this morning, was one of the best feelings of my life,” Hamilton told to media.
For the first practice at Fiorano, Hamilton showed up in Ferrari’s traditional red uniform, but also with a yellow helmet, reminiscent of the driver’s Formula 1 beginnings with the McLaren team.
According to Hamilton’s background, the yellow helmet represents his admiration for the legendary Ayrton Senna.
The helmet carries the Giallo Modena color, which is also found on the Ferrari shield, in addition to the traditional decorations.
