Luxury brands such as Tiffany, Bvlgari, and Louis Vuitton expect their products to be displayed in unparalleled spaces that match their values of sophistication and glamour, so interior design is always a relevant card.

But now they also put their eyes on the facades to be a reflection of the exquisiteness of their pieces, with light that highlights the elements and a design full of excellent quality materials.

The Bvlgari store in Bangkok is located in the IconSiam department store, one of the largest shopping centers in Asia. The façade, designed by MVRDV, features brass cornice motifs combined with glass to create a golden effect.

The design is based on the cornice design of the first Bvlgari store, which opened in 1905 on Via dei Condotti in Rome.

The showcases feature different colors and degrees of transparency depending on the function of the location: for example, the glass is transparent on the first floor, while it is opaque in the VIP lounge on the top floor.

Each showcase features subtle lighting to highlight the products, while the background is saffron, Bvlgari’s signature color.

“With this design, we bring a Roman zest for life to Bangkok”, said MVRDV founding partner Jacob van Rijs about this design for this luxury brand.

With Tiffany "diamonds”

Another facade design by MVRDV is the Tiffany’s at the Taikoo Li Qiantan shopping mall in Shanghai, with 6,988 “diamonds”, a clear reference to the famous Tiffany jewels. In reality, it is a display of diamond-cut glasses, all handmade.

The crystals, which measure 8,2 inches wide by 5 inches high and weigh 3.3 lbs, are suspended by polished steel cables.

Through the refraction of light, these crystals create a shimmering effect with a glow of thousands of colors. At night, the screen is illuminated by LED lamps and changes color at the top and bottom.

With giant trunks

The design of six stacked trunks on display at Louis Vuitton‘s New York store is the work of the LVMH team. The design “hides”  the renovation of the store at East 57th Street and 5th Avenue. The work will take several years to complete.

The oversized locks and latches were created from 3D scans of authentic Louis Vuitton trunks, and the steel corners were hand-welded. The stack also features 840 rivets, each engraved with the Louis Vuitton name.
