Jaeger-LeCoultre invites visitors to experience the world of Reverso through an immersive Pop-up event in the heart of New York City this December. ‘Reverso Stories’ offers a captivating exploration of watchmaking craftsmanship and design, highlighting nine decades of cultural and social shifts. The Pop-up will take place in a specially designed outdoor space at Hudson Yards’ Public Square & Gardens, a bustling area in Manhattan’s West Side, from December 6–15, 2024.
Celebrating 90 years of Reverso: a journey through time and craftsmanship
In celebration of over 90 years of the iconic Reverso, Jaeger-LeCoultre presents a multi-sensory exhibition that retraces the journey of this remarkable timepiece.
This immersive retrospective, which will travel the globe, delves into the creative and cultural world behind this exceptional design, exploring its evolution through four distinct themes. Visitors will embark on a journey that spans over nine decades of timeless modernity, discovering the legacy of Reverso.
Celebrating the Art Deco roots of one of the world’s most recognizable watch designs, ‘Reverso Stories’ guides visitors through the history, craftsmanship, innovation, and design behind the Reverso. The exhibition unfolds in four chapters: Story of an Icon, Story of Style & Design, Story of Innovation, and Story of Craftsmanship.
Discover the Art Déco
These narratives are brought to life through a selection of iconic models, including rare archive pieces, contemporary high jewelry, and miniature-painted watches. The exhibition will also feature highlights from the current collection, alongside the world’s first wristwatch with four functional faces—the Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185 ‘Quadriptyque’. A live demonstration of the decorative art of perlage will also take place, providing visitors with a rare insight into this intricate watchmaking technique.
Jaeger-LeCoultre will also celebrate the release of its limited-edition Reverso Tribute Chronograph, reinterpreted in 18-karat pink gold. The front dial introduces a new decoration that enhances the Art Déco geometry of the case, while the reverse side is open-worked to reveal the intricate Calibre 860. Given New York’s rich legacy of Art Déco style and architecture, the city provides an ideal backdrop for this tribute to the Reverso’s origins.
Guests are invited to enhance their experience by enjoying a warm drink at the nomadic 1931 Café, named after the year the iconic Reverso was first introduced.
Art and perfumery collaborations
The ‘Reverso Stories’ Pop-up also features two artistic collaborations under Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Made of Makers initiative. This program aims to push the boundaries of traditional craftsmanship by partnering with artists, designers, and artisans from various creative fields outside of watchmaking.
A multimedia installation titled Origin, created by Korean artist Yiyun Kang, is showcased on a large three-dimensional screen at the center of the exhibition. Origin pays homage to the Golden Ratio’s omnipresence in nature, drawing a parallel between the symmetry of the natural world and the geometry of Art Deco design.
Jaeger-LeCoultre is also unveiling a new collaboration with the world of fine perfumery. Nicolas Bonneville, the Scent Artist, has crafted three exclusive new scents that embody the spirit of La Grande Maison. Visitors to the exhibition can explore these scents in a specially designed space, where they are invited to participate in an interactive experience identifying key perfume ingredients.
