LUSTER magazine attended The Beach Polo World Cup 2024, considered the largest and most significant beach polo competition in the world.

Throughout each day, attendees enjoyed thrilling matches where some of the world’s top players showcased their talent on the sand. In addition, the event offered a unique experience with off-field activities that blended polo, fashion, and luxury.

While general admission was free, VIP tickets provided access to exclusive shaded areas, open bars, and high-end catering.

Held from November 14 to 17, 2024, in South Beach, this tournament not only reaffirmed its position as one of the world’s most glamorous sporting events but also left an indelible mark by breaking attendance and participation records.

Featuring eight world-class international teams, over 120 polo horses, and a revamped format, the event attracted celebrities, global influencers, and polo enthusiasts from around the world.

This year, the event featured Pride Polo on Thursday, November 14, reinforcing its commitment to diversity and inclusion. This initiative celebrated the dynamic and welcoming spirit of the Miami community, making the tournament a more inclusive space.

Melissa Ganzi, president and owner of the World Polo League, highlighted the spectacular nature of beach polo: “Seeing the beautiful horses on the sand, with their athleticism, is incredible.” For her, polo is a sport full of excitement, speed, and strategy, vastly different from other comparisons like croquet.

Professional player Nick Roldan described polo as one of the most challenging sports, stating: “Everyone underestimates this sport, but it’s one of the most difficult I’ve ever played.”

Founded in 2004, the World Polo League Beach Polo World Cup combines high-level polo with the vibrant setting of Miami’s beaches. Alongside the matches, the event features activities that celebrate luxury, fashion, and lifestyle, making it an icon of glamour and prestige.

Schedule and Celebrations

The tournament kicked off on Thursday with the Pride Polo Game and a team presentation ceremony. From Friday to Sunday, each match day concluded with exclusive Après Polo parties at the Setai Hotel, where attendees continued the festivities by the hotel’s shimmering pool.
