Known as an iconic stop on Route 66, Santa Monica has long drawn travelers, and now it’s gaining the attention of upscale hospitality brands. Atallah’s property, acquired by IHG Hotels & Resorts and transformed from a Loews hotel, debuted with 167 ocean-view rooms and suites that emphasize space, light, and nature-inspired design. Now under the Regent brand, the hotel embraces a fresh, airy aesthetic fitting Santa Monica’s coastal lifestyle.

The shift from its origins in Beverly Hills reflects an entirely new look for Regent, which is best known as the backdrop for the movie Pretty Woman. Today’s Regent Santa Monica Beach offers a lighter, more open vibe, with rooms that are nearly double the original size, now starting at 720 square feet.

Elevated coastal luxury

The marquee suites include the 3,200-square-foot Santa Monica Presidential Suite, featuring its own game room, and the Atrium Suite, a two-story, light-filled enclave with two bedrooms and 2,800 square feet overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The hotel’s spacious design echoes the desire for privacy and comfort that modern travelers seek.

Public spaces are equally inviting and uniquely tailored to the needs of high-end guests. One standout is the Atelier, a private space where guests can prepare for weddings, events, or award shows. Another thoughtful addition is the Lounge, which offers refreshments, showers, and comfortable seating to accommodate guests arriving early or departing late, catering to international travelers with variable schedules.

Situated directly across from the iconic Muscle Beach, the Regent Santa Monica Beach is the only hotel in the area to offer a dedicated beach butler service for guests looking to spend a leisurely day on the sand with all the amenities provided. For those who prefer a poolside atmosphere, the hotel’s rooftop pool deck, located on the fourth floor, is the largest in Santa Monica, offering ample room for relaxation with views of the ocean.

New heights in hospitality

Dining at the property is a highlight. The all-day eatery Orla, run by celebrity chef Michael Mina, captures eastern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences inspired by Mina’s Egyptian heritage.

With an indoor-outdoor setup, Orla’s menu features dishes that celebrate vibrant flavors and seasonal ingredients, adding a fresh culinary experience to Santa Monica’s dining scene. Complementing this is a branch of Ayesha Curry’s lifestyle brand, Sweet July, which offers guests a warm, inviting space to relax and enjoy locally inspired treats.
