Alexander Zverev defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets (7-5, 6-4) to advance to the semifinals of the Paris Masters, where he will face defending champion Holger Rune.

With this recent victory, Zverev has reached his 20th semifinal in an ATP Masters 1,000 tournament, a milestone that places him alongside legendary figures like Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

At 27 years old and boasting six Masters titles, Zverev is now seeking to add another Masters title to his record after his triumph in Rome earlier this season.

However, Rune stands in his way. At just 21 years old and ranked 13th globally, Rune surprised the tennis world last year by winning the Paris Masters title after defeating Djokovic in the final.

This year, Rune earned his spot in the semifinals with a hard-fought victory over Alex de Minaur (6-4, 4-6, 7-5), reinforcing his determination to defend his title.

The Paris Masters, officially known as the Rolex Paris Masters, is one of the most prestigious tournaments on the ATP circuit and the final event in the Masters 1,000 series of the season.

Held annually at the Accor Arena in Bercy, in the vibrant city of Paris, it is the only Masters tournament played on indoor hard courts, giving it a unique character and attracting the world’s top players, who aim to close the season on a high note and earn crucial ranking points.

Zverev, with six Masters titles under his belt, has been consistent throughout 2024. At 27, he already secured a Masters title this season in Rome, where he demonstrated his ability to handle pressure in critical moments.

This achievement strengthens his resolve to win another title in Paris, which would mark his seventh Masters trophy and an opportunity to end the year on a high note.

Still, his path won’t be easy, as he faces Rune, the tournament’s defending champion, in the semifinals.

At 21, Rune has been a breakout star on the circuit and secured his title defense with an impressive win over Alex de Minaur in a close match (6-4, 4-6, 7-5). This showdown promises to be one of the most anticipated semifinals of the Paris Masters, where Zverev’s experience will be tested against Rune’s youthful energy.
