Now, in its latest incarnation, The Moore has been reimagined as a luxury boutique hotel, poised to offer an immersive experience that seamlessly blends historical elegance with modern design.
The Moore Hotel: Miami’s Design District gets a luxe art-centric retreat
The Moore Hotel is part of a transformative new chapter for Miami’s historic Moore building. Originally constructed in the 1920s, the iconic four-story Art Deco structure has long been a gem of the city’s Design District.
Opened on October 14, The Hotel at The Moore will take over the fourth floor of the building, offering a collection of 13 suites, each ranging from 700 to 1,000 square feet. Designed to evoke the ambiance of a private residence, the hotel promises personalized service and access to the building’s exclusive amenities.
From pineapples to penthouse
Brady Wood, founder and CEO of WoodHouse, the company managing the property, has described the experience as one that offers guests the freedom to feel at home in a luxurious, intimate setting, with tailored attention to detail at every turn.
The design of the hotel, overseen by the Los Angeles-based firm Studio Collective, is a blend of contemporary elegance and homage to the building’s storied past. The studio has crafted the interiors using custom furnishings and art from both established and emerging artists.
Many of these pieces were selected to complement the existing architecture, preserving key features such as the original columns and staircase. The design also incorporates nods to the building’s origins as a pineapple plantation, with subtle decorative elements that reference this history.
A modern classic
A focal point of the hotel’s interior is the striking Elastika installation by renowned architect Zaha Hadid, which stretches across the building’s four-story atrium. This visually stunning, web-like structure served as a major inspiration for the design of the entire hotel. According to Brady Wood, art has been central to the project’s identity, and Elastika was instrumental in shaping the overall vision for the space.
In addition to its design, The Moore Hotel distinguishes itself with a range of amenities that emphasize Miami’s vibrant urban culture. The property already houses a private members-only club, complete with social spaces like karaoke rooms, cocktail lounges, libraries, game rooms, and a speakeasy. These facilities will now be available to hotel guests, further enhancing the personalized and exclusive atmosphere.
Culinary experiences are also a highlight, with The Moore’s signature restaurant, named Elastika, situated in the atrium under Hadid’s installation. Helmed by executive chef Joe Anthony, the restaurant offers a dynamic, globally inspired menu that reflects the eclectic design of the space.
