The plot follows Rita, an influential lawyer played by Zoe Saldaña, who faces the challenge of helping a Mexican cartel leader fake his death and undergo gender reassignment surgery, becoming Emilia Pérez. Karla Sofía Gascón portrays Emilia, while Selena Gomez plays the wife of the capo, and Adriana Paz plays Epifanía. Édgar Ramírez joins the cast as Gustavo.
