The Louis Vuitton Cup follows a three-phase format designed to test the skill, strategy, and teamwork of each challenger. The first two phases consist of Round Robins, where each team faces off twice in elimination-style matches.

This is followed by the semi-final, a best-of-five series, and finally, the grand final, which will be a best-of-seven showdown. The team that emerges victorious in this rigorous competition will be declared the Challenger and will go on to face Emirates Team New Zealand, the current holders of the America’s Cup, in the main event. The final challenger is expected to be announced by October 7, 2024.

A historic partnership

To celebrate the start of this monumental edition, a lavish event took place on August 27 atop Mount Tibidabo, one of Barcelona’s most iconic landmarks. This evening was not just a celebration of the competition but also a tribute to the historic partnership between Louis Vuitton and the America’s Cup.

The exclusive event drew high-profile guests, including five-time Olympic medalist and Louis Vuitton ambassador Léon Marchand, alongside Spanish stars such as actresses Georgina Amoros and Maria Pedraza, and actor Miguel Bernardeau. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the two legendary trophies: the Louis Vuitton Cup and the America’s Cup, both housed in Louis Vuitton’s meticulously crafted Trophy Trunks, symbolizing the luxury brand’s longstanding association with the world’s most prestigious sailing event.
