The Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc claimed victory at Monza on Sunday for the second time, having previously won in 2019. Leclerc held off the McLaren duo of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris in a thrilling race where Max Verstappen finished a distant sixth, nearly 38 seconds behind.
The stands erupted in cheers as Leclerc crossed the finish line after conserving a set of hard tires from his sole pit stop on lap 16. All his main rivals, except teammate Carlos Sainz who finished fourth, made two pit stops, with McLaren hoping the Ferrari pair would follow suit. However, Leclerc managed to keep his tires in good enough condition to stay ahead and comfortably finished ahead of Piastri, who had led the early laps.
