The sports brand Nike inaugurated the “Art of Victory” exhibition on Wednesday, focusing on its Nike Air franchise at the place that inspired the design of the Air Max 1 almost 40 years ago.

Nike transforms the facade of the Pompidou Center into a canvas that will tell sports stories. The exhibition will offer an immersive experience, turning the facade of the Pompidou Center into a dynamic canvas that highlights innovative sports stories.

To complement this, Nike is organizing a series of interactive sports experiences in the outdoor space, including running, basketball, global football, skateboarding, and breaking.

“The message of this collaboration, for me, is to move forward and be bold when you have a good idea,” said Tinker Hatfield, who stated that the interior architecture of the Pompidou was the inspiration for the Air cushioning technology he used for the Air Max 1.

“Go ahead, take risks. Be at least a little disruptive so that people notice what you’re doing. I think that’s true for both the building and the Air Max 1. Technology is important, but it’s the act of boldness and being disruptive that made everyone pay attention.”

Additionally, a skateable sculpture, “Cycloid Piazza,” designed by French artist Raphaël Zarka in collaboration with architect Jean-Benoît Vétillard, and commissioned by the Pompidou Center with the support of Nike, is publicly exhibited.

The “Art of Victory” exhibition will be open from Wednesday, July 24 to August 11, the last day of the Paris 2024 Olympics. Access to the exhibitions and the Pompidou Center’s permanent collection will be free for those under 26 years old during this period.
