Swatch and Omega surprise once again with a new edition of the MoonSwatch collection. This time, the two companies expand their Mission to the Moonphase line with a blue variant, aptly named Mission to the Super Blue Moonphase.

The first watch in the Mission To the Moonphase collection featured Snoopy and Woodstock on the moon phase indicator and an all-white design. This concept was repeated in the next MoonSwatch release, which came with a matte black aesthetic.

In terms of design, the Super Blue Moonphase model moves away from the playful approach of its predecessors. This is evident in its moon phase indicator, where Snoopy and Woodstock have been replaced by multi-tonal moons with UV ink.

Clad in a blue bioceramic construction, with a matching crown and pushers, the model stands out for its dark blue bezel that highlights the color palette of the velcro strap inspired by space suits. The silver opaline dial is adorned with contrasting details that alternate between dark and light blue, including luminescent indexes and hands.

As usual, the 42 mm diameter watch is equipped with a quartz movement with chronograph and moon phase functions. On the case back, a lunar print in shades of blue adorns the battery cover.

The collaboration

The MoonSwatch collaboration between Omega and Swatch, launched in March 2022, proved to be a resounding success, captivating watch enthusiasts and pop culture fans alike. This special collection united the timeless elegance of Omega’s Speedmaster with the fun and accessible style of Swatch, creating a new version of the iconic Moonwatch.

The initial collection, called “Mission to the Moon,” featured eleven watches with names and colors representing celestial bodies, from the Sun to Pluto. Each watch featured a unique and eye-catching design, maintaining the essence of the original Speedmaster with features such as the tachymeter and sub-dials.

A highlight of the MoonSwatch collection was the use of bioceramic, an innovative material created by Swatch from ceramic and bioplastic. This sustainable material gave the watches a unique and durable appearance, in line with both brands’ commitment to environmental responsibility.

Following the initial success, Omega and Swatch have released new versions of the MoonSwatch collection, including the “Speedmaster MoonSwatch” and the “Bioceramic MoonSwatch.” These new editions have expanded the range of colors and designs available, maintaining the same fun and accessible spirit that has characterized the collaboration from the beginning.
