Landshapes, Daniel Arsham’s latest creation, is part of a larger project called Arsham in Kohler, which includes a cabin full of peculiar design objects.

Located at Destination Kohler, the company’s vacation space beside Lake Michigan, the Arsham Cabin strikes a balance between a minimalist and sober interior, accentuated by Arsham’s surreal vision of mirrors, chairs, and a freestanding bathtub.

Interior design has always been a passion for Arsham, who founded the collaborative design studio Snarkitecture with Alex Mustonen.

Like his future-relic sculptures, the Landshapes mirror appears as a distorted object discovered from a past civilization, framed by Kohler’s WasteLAB blue slate tiles, made from recycled materials.

The Landshapes collection will be available for purchase at the end of the year.

The artist

Daniel Arsham is an American artist born in 1980 in Cleveland, Ohio, and currently resides in New York. His work explores themes such as the passage of time, memory, and archaeology, through sculptures, installations, and performances that challenge our perception of reality.

Arsham is known for his fictional creations that seem to belong to a distant future, where everyday objects like Polaroid cameras, musical instruments, and sports cars are found eroded, fragmented, or covered in materials like volcanic ash or crystals.

His work reflects on the ephemeral nature of existence and the inevitability of decay. Arsham’s works invite us to question our relationship with the objects that surround us and to consider the impact of time on the world we inhabit.

The artist has collaborated with various brands and personalities, such as Dior, Pokémon, and Porsche, bringing his unique vision to different creative realms.

Daniel Arsham has become a prominent figure in contemporary art, recognized for his originality, deep conceptualization, and ability to generate immersive and reflective experiences.
