In recent years, the brand has been consistently diversifying its offerings with single malt whiskeys, barrel-aged whiskeys, and the experimental Distillery Series.

Now, they’ve added another exciting chapter to their rye whiskey story with the release of #13, a Twice Barreled Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey.

This release marks the latest chapter in Jack Daniel’s exploration of rye whiskey, building on their initial foray in 2017.

The new expression utilizes the same 70% rye grain mash bill, undergoing the Lincoln County charcoal mellowing process that defines Tennessee whiskey.

It is initially aged in new, charred oak barrels before receiving a unique secondary maturation in a fresh set of charred oak barrels for an additional two and a half years.

This extended finishing period amplifies the wood influence, introducing notes of leather, tobacco, and a subtle smoke to the palate.

While these notes enhance the complexity, they do not overwhelm the rye’s signature fruitiness and spice.

Master Distiller Chris Fletcher emphasizes this balance, stating, “Our Tennessee Rye is a version of rye whiskey that’s uniquely Jack Daniel’s… The 70% rye grain bill allows the whiskey to shine through with just the right amount of spice and boldness.”

Limited to 375ml bottles, the Twice Barreled Rye Whiskey will be available for purchase at the distillery’s White Rabbit Bottle Shop and select retailers throughout Tennessee.

The rest of Jack Daniel’s lineup, including their acclaimed single barrel expressions and aged whiskeys, continues to be available through online retailers like ReserveBar.

Brand History

Jack Daniel’s, a name that resonates strongly in the spirits world, is more than just a whiskey brand. It’s a story that dates back to 1866 when Jasper Newton “Jack” Daniel founded his distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee.

From its humble beginnings, Jack Daniel’s has come a long way to become one of the most recognized and beloved whiskey brands in the world.

The key to Jack Daniel’s success lies in its commitment to quality and tradition.

Since its inception, the brand has used the same process, known as the “Lincoln County Process,” which involves filtering the freshly distilled whiskey through charcoal made from sugar maple trees.

This unique process imparts the whiskey with its signature amber color and smooth, mellow flavor.

While Jack Daniel’s flagship Old No. 7 remains the brand’s most popular offering, the company has expanded its portfolio in recent years to include a variety of expressions.
