Desa Potato Head in Bali surprises us once again with its latest culinary proposal: Dome, an experience that fuses futuristic architecture with vintage decor.
Dome, at the Desa Potato Head resort in Bali, offers its guests a journey through time, where natural food and wine pair perfectly in an earthly and avant-garde setting.
The exterior of Dome sets the futuristic tone with its dome appearance, inspired by the iconic Fuller Dome Home. Concrete walls give it a raw look, reminiscent of geodesic houses, but with modern details like the silver sign with the restaurant’s name.
Upon entering, diners are greeted by a central circular steel bar, which serves as the heart of the restaurant. Blue pillars with built-in lamps combine with the blue floor, creating a unique atmosphere that simultaneously hides functional elements. Following the aesthetic, stainless steel monoliths house JBL 4355 speakers, so that visitors can enjoy DJ sessions with vinyl records.
While wood and recycled furniture are present throughout the space, sofas and armchairs designed by OMA and Potato Head’s in-house studio add a personalized touch. Indonesian tribal sculptures and antique rugs achieve a balance with the steel and concrete architecture.
“The architecture is so futuristic that we wanted to soften it with natural elements,” explains Creative Director Isaac Larose. “If you look closely, you can see the imperfections in the shades of the recycled furniture. We decided to celebrate these imperfections instead of hiding them, just as we do with our wines and products.”
Dome is more than just a restaurant; it’s a sensory journey that combines past and future, creating a unique gastronomic experience in the heart of Desa Potato Head.
Desa Potato Head is not just a beach club; it’s a full-fledged resort that combines laid-back luxury with the creative spirit of Seminyak, Bali.
Located on the beachfront, Desa Potato Head offers a comprehensive vacation experience. You can choose from a variety of rooms, from sea-view studios to family suites with bay views. All feature luxurious details such as vases filled with roses from the hotel’s century-old garden.
